    This is the anti-Black Sunday. I told my dad this morning that drafting Eichel will officially put an end to all the misery in the post-Drury and Briere era. Now it's *REALLY* the reverse of Black Sunday. Instead of losing two centerpieces (literally top 2 centers), we're adding two centerpieces (and centers). Eight years later, we're back.

    The only cause for concern is that we're suddenly thin on defense. McCabe is the only D out of the guys you mentioned and he's 21 and had concussion problems last year. We'll need another trade or two to address that.

    Sure seems like it. They're definitely trading Chara soon too, right? As in, they're in total rebuild mode now...

    But contracts will be bigger then too. It'll be a thing, but it's something every talented team has to navigate. It's the one problem you want to have in the NHL.

    So the Bruins three picks were Zboril, Debrusk, and Senshyn (???). I wouldn't be overwhelmed by this if I were a Bruins fan.

    Forgot about Girgensons. Ennis could be another guy whose stats take a big leap forward suddenly playing with guys like Kane and O'Reilly. Maybe move him when his value is higher to make additional room. At some point it might be fun to troll Mike Harrington on Twitter about all this. Fun time to remind him that he was against literally all of this.

    Not worried about it at all. I think the Sabres should be in a position of strength years from now when they need to trade a talented guy for cap reasons.

    Making Grigorenko the second biggest piece of a blockbuster deal is a big deal, and the type of trade we haven't seen Murray make yet. This is a Regier-type trade. All three prospects we moved took a bit of a hit last season in terms of value but we were still able to move them at a higher than expected value.

    I think O'Reilly will get a big contract, then Evander Kane. And if all goes as planned, Eichel and Reinhart will need big contracts down the road as well, probably along with Risto. If all of that happens, I think you might have to trade O'Reilly or Kane (years from now) and you'd probably get something decent in return so that you'd have younger players to play with (then older versions of) Eichel and Reinhart.

    The problem with McCabe is that he needed time to adjust to the AHL, then suffered a concussion, and then had another head injury to end the year (possibly another concussion, no idea what they actually diagnosed). So his future is anyone's guess. After trading Zadarov, the Sabres need him to rebound in a big way.

    THRILLED with this trade, by far the best of Murray's time as GM. The Sabres are going to be really exciting to watch next year. Just need Pysyk to step up and McCabe to stay healthy.
