  1. True, but maybe we throw in one more asset and get it done. Dougie Hamilton is the type of player you absolutely overpay for if you can get him.
  2. Another reason not to rush to make the Lehner trade first thing this morning. We probably could have Dougie Hamilton right now.
  3. Let's just hope he's right.
  4. Well played.
  5. The rejoinder to that line of reasoning is that every time the Bills did something silly in the past 15 years, someone always pointed out that the guys running the team "know more about football than any fan ever will." But the fans were usually right. It's sports. It's not that complicated. It's not like what is being done is on par with medicine or engineering. The fans usually aren't that far off.
  6. How do you know he didn't? There's a difference between being a "Yes Man" and just doing what your boss tells you to do. In the real world, people have to jobs where they have to do things they may not agree with because of what their boss/company wants. You can't just quit every time you get an order you don't like. Agree that he didn't do enough to replace them. It's the reason I wanted him gone.
  7. Nope. It's based in this dimension, where Regier enacted the Tank to land the high pick we had last year and the one we have tonight.
  8. He was the GM -- where was he trying to be moved up to? Yes, he should have been more aggressive on trades. But when he was told the team wouldn't re-sign Drury and Briere, was he supposed to just quit "for what he believed"? That's ridiculous.
  9. Well, we can't really bet money on what would have happened in an alternate dimension. You may be right about Reinhart since the Grigorenko thing was such a debacle. Or maybe the team would have learned a thing or two from it. I do assume Regier would have been willing to tank twice though. I figure he'd realize that there's no benefit to trying to get out of 30th with McDavid and Eichel on the way.
  10. Good grief. Are we trading Girgensons and Zadarov now?
  11. How old are you? This feels like a college student's concept of what being an adult with a career is.
  12. When the guy tells you "Suffering" is coming and then two 30th place seasons happen, what part of that is confusing?
  13. In the adult world, sometimes you either agree to do what your boss wants or you get fired. I'm not going to blame Regier for working under the constraints he was given. Sick burn, bro.
  14. I'm pretty confident the plan Regier put into motion included moving Miller, Ott, and Moulson. (Regier literally asked the Isles to include Moulson in that package so that he'd have another guy to trade at the deadline.) Credit to Murray on following through and not trying to "win now" but what you described above is still Regier's plan. Because his plan got us Reinhart and Eichel. No idea if we still finish 30th without the trade for Kane, but I imagine Regier would have been unloading guys left and right this past season to help it along.
  15. Then don't get him. At least, not for that price. Tons of goaltending in the NHL right now. I think we had plenty of options.
  16. That team was dismantled on Black Sunday -- which definitely wasn't his fault (see: Quinn and OSP). You think he wanted to let Briere and Drury walk?
  17. I think we all want to like Lehner. I just don't see the urgency to get him. Pretty much every goalie we had last year had a good stretch and our problem definitely wasn't in net.
  18. He tanked late, but he did tank. And he had the guts to say flat out, "Suffering" is coming. Pegula eventually fired him for that, I think. It's honestly bizarre to me that we're thanking Murray for Reinhart and Eichel. Regier is the architect of the Tank.
  19. He definitely would not have. But he would have made other trades. Maybe he had another Drury trade in him, or a Dumont/Gilmour. I don't think it's impossible he would have finally made some big trades. It began a few hours ago.
  20. Maybe he can. Maybe it'll turn out he's awesome. So far he's just mediocre and he's doing a lot because his predecessor stocked up a ton of assets for him. Except for that time he built the best team we ever had. Regier did a ton of weird things in his last few years here and ultimately had to go but "not Darcy" isn't the same as good GM. A lot of GMs are terrible because they're the exact opposite of Darcy Regier.
  21. "Suffering" is responsible for drafting both. Let's not pretend Regier wasn't the guy who finally did what needed to be done to make it happen. Murray only finished the job.
  22. Yes, I "hate" him. It's very personal. He traded away Moulson and got him back? Shouldn't you be praising Regier for this? He's the one that got Moulson added to the Vanek deal so that we'd have another asset to unload at the trade deadline. Getting him back is mostly about cap space, ownership, and Buffalo being a great hockey city. Still think Reinhart and Eichel are the key guys.
  23. So we're right back to "He's awesome because he's not Regier."
