I Really Have No Idea How This Offseason Plays Out
Carmel Corn replied to Flashsabre's topic in The Aud Club
Fully expect Adams to be back. All the talk about "accountability" was a lie...Pegula cares about the bottom line and loyalty, NOT the fans. We'll get more lip service about how the team is "close" and it's important to stay the course. -

I actually don’t think he will trade either of them (I do think he should though). This cursed hockey organization believes they are still close to the promised land and will dig in their heels to try and prove it. GMKA will be back next year and future head coach Seth Appert will take over after Ruff is done. I hate this organization and what it’s done to its fans. -

Caufield vs. Power along the boards…..and it’s Power who falls down (sigh) -

I know Cozens is playing tonight, but I honestly can’t remember anything good that he has done. Non-factor -

Interference on TNT….not a good shift for him -
2025 NHL Trade Deadline: March 7th, at 3pm Eastern

I forgot to mention that I don’t think JJP is a deadline move, but rather an off-season trade. I agree that moving Cozens is addition by subtraction, but the reason I don’t think it will happen is that his salary prevents it. I agree it would take overpayment to get a free agent, but once again will UFA’s still come (I am not optimistic because of ownership and management reputations). -

Perhaps, but what do you propose they do in their SHORT term to get better? They lack certain types of players in their top 6 and I think it’s a mistake to walk back next season without major changes to their top 6. The answer is not in Rochester, so how do they get better without trading someone like JJP? Are people willing to sacrifice another season of no playoffs for the sake of keeping our youth? -
It’s professional sports, meaning it’s a business. You don’t let assets get away without anything in return. I agree that this team needs more veterans, but unless you’re willing to overpay Greenway and Zucker….they’re not coming back. Letting them walk away for nothing is poor asset management. More draft picks may not be what we need, but they are better than getting nothing at all.

Maybe Jokiharju gets moved as a pending UFA. Otherwise, GMKA will still think his guys (including UFA’s Greenway and Zucker) are worth more than other teams are willing to pay.

He’s one our our bigger fish in a small pond with his goals yes. But if he was having a really good season, then he’d still be with TNT and maybe Tuch on the 1st line. As somebody else noted, he may benefit from better linemates, but for some reason Ruff doesn’t do that. That tells me there are things about JJP’s game that Ruff doesn’t like. You clearly like him. I don’t hate him, but IMHO he may need to be part of a shakeup that makes our top 6 better next season…not 2 or 3 years from now.

If it means we get a bonafide top 6 forward who can help us immediately (presumably next season) who brings something we don’t have, then yes. We’re not going to get much for Cozens, Quinn, etc, so you may have to give up quality to get quality. I’m not saying he’s our worst top 6 player….that might be Cozens or Quinn, but I am saying we cannot come back next season with the same top 6 and expect to be much better.

Simple…our top 6 is too young and inexperienced. He’s part of that and might be one of our more tradable assets. If he was the only one, then I would be more apt to keep him, but I’d swap him out for a more experienced and physical top 6 player. Cozen’s contract works against a good trade and Quinn is severely underperforming. JJP’s play has been Meh to me and he disappears for long stretches of time.
