  1. Yeah, it usually doesn't work out as hoped (William > Alex). It didn't succeed with Keith Gretzky and Wayne Primeau either (IMHO)
  2. Sorry to see this happening at the naval park. Hope they can get her back afloat. Whenever we visit town, we like to go to the waterfront. https://www.wivb.com/news/local-news/buffalo/buffalo-naval-park-looking-into-situation-with-uss-the-sullivans/
  3. Hindsight is 20-20 of course. If I'm not mistaken, we had some older and acquired guys as part of the D-corp including Gorges, Franson, maybe Pysyk/Kulikov in addition to Risto, McCabe and BOGO. I can only guess the mgmt thought defense was covered and wanted to add more offense I guess. Nylander had a decent world juniors that year (maybe)?
  4. Hmmm, for some reason I picture Leaf's fans thinking the same thing about Matthews and Marner in last year's playoffs. In their case maybe $20 million combined and pretty quiet in their first round exit vs. Montreal. It made me so sad to see that.........not! 😉
  5. "Biz" is a complete jackass! I cannot stand his Pro-Leaf's attitude and he's the worse television personality (TNT network) I have ever seen on any NHL related broadcast. I'd rather listen to Roenick, Milbury, or even Chris Collingsworth (NFL) vs. Bissonnette. How is it that he is even on TV after a rather insignificant NHL career. I know some others are not great to see or listen to (ex. Gretzky), but at least they earned a right to be there based on their careers.
  6. It was a good stretch to help calibrate our strengths, weaknesses and opportunities. However, what I care about the most is how we used the Leafs' to wipe our butts and then flushed them down the toilet last night.
  7. Plus...as Darth stated above....there is the Vesey factor, where we didn't draft him, but traded for his rights. Hard to believe we ended up sacrificing 2 3rd rounders to get him to play a whopping 64 games for us.
  8. As the team composition changes for the better with more talent and skill, I hope to see him be the next Sabre D to hit 20. He'll have more goal scorers to feed (for assists) and more playmakers to find him when he comes in from the blue line to score goals. If he can have a steady D-partner (ex. maybe Mule?), he may become more aggressive in the offensive zone.
  9. Thought I heard on the Instigators that VGK's chances of making the playoffs are now in the 30+% range. The teams they are trying to catch also are winning. Dallas still getting the job done with Scott Wedgewood in net. I am kind of curious to see what kind of shape Mark Stone is in and whether he can be a difference maker for the stretch run.
  10. I know we've had some discussion on this board about a scenario of trading Johnson for another D prospect who is right-handed. Assuming he does sign though, I certainly don't mind the vision of a future D-corp made up of Dahlin, Power, Mule, Joki and Johnson. That could pretty amazing actually!
  11. This makes sense to me. Fast forward to 2022, going forward I would like to see GMKA target selection of at least 1 goalie every draft going forward. Whether it is a high draft pick, mid rounds, or later....I'd like to see a goalie included in each draft class at least until there is a good pipeline in place.
  12. Agree....feel like there are maybe a few passengers tonight. Casey has been very quiet, Asplund maybe too.
  13. This is why the Leafs may not achieve success in the playoffs....no shutdown ability/personnel.
  14. Tuch has been a great enabler for Tage and Skinner
  15. I'm already thinking that it would be interesting if both Dahlin and Power played together on 3-on-3 overtime situations. Break the mold!
  16. Let's hope they can keep it up....not run out of gas (which is pretty expensive these days)!
  17. Mule's play...for some reason I am reminded of #74 Jay McKee Mule needs some Craig Ludwig shin guards
  18. Fitz and Bryson are an adventure each shift.
