  1. My back used to go out regularly (thank goodness it has been OK for the last 2 years or so, knock wood). I discovered that for some reason, even though the ibuprofen did kill the pain, it aggravated the muscle spasms. I switched to acetaminophen (the timed-release caplets) and that made a huge difference. Do go and have the tests done though - severe back pain is nothing to mess with.
  2. We don't hate IT work, we hate having to answer IT questions from every friend and relative who has trouble spelling PC.....
  3. Amen to that, brother - and a redhead to boot. (Y'all can't see me of course, but right now my head is tilted to the right and I am uttering a Homer Simpson-like "OhhhhhhhaaaaH!")
  4. Giada is stunning and has what look to be just about perfect breasts. Her cleavage is on display in most shows and it is like a sweet peak into heaven... I'm still a leg man, though.
  5. You haven't tried hard enough - there isn't a computer out there that I haven't been able to crash...not on purpose, of course.
  6. Seconded - I've had mine for about the same amount of time and it is great. Steaks are done in under 20 minutes; my old gas grill took at least twice as long. I've shied away from most things Apple, but after having Android phones for the last 18 months, I may switch to an iPhone. No real issues with the Android, it's just that there are many great apps being written for the iPhone that never get ported to Android. I really like my Cuisinart K-cup coffee maker - I get to enjoy a fresh cup of coffee whenever I want. That's pretty awesome.....
  7. Great - I'm reading this at work and now I won't be able to walk away from my desk for the next five minutes....
  8. Yesterday, I met a woman who could have just been "the one". Great smile, awesome personality, the whole package. BUT....I think I might just be about twice her age. Good thing she lives three hours away so I won't keep running into her. (But she will be haunting my dreams... Dang! This getting old business is getting old  )
  9. Hah - I can discuss my pre-21 drinking habits since back then, the legal age was 18. Yep, I'm that old. Ugh. I guess that is my complaint for the day...
  10. Tickets, where are you?

  11.   Awesome on all counts!!!
  12. I will be politically correct and say, Happy Non-denominational Winter Solstice-related Celebration!!! Nah, Merry Christmas!!
  13. Unless I'm writing just a few lines, I always write my Sabrespace missives in a plain text file, then copy and paste it into the "Reply" field. That way, if it gets messed up, I have a backup copy. Sorry, I'm an IT guy, so I have this thing about making backup copies of everything..... Today's complaint - board moderators who crop their avatars just at the point where they are getting interesting...
  14. As interesting as this thread is, that fact that it has as many posts as it does two days after one of the most embarrassing losses by any Sabres' team EVER speaks volumes... Also, I'm a leg man....
  15. It's mid-December, there is no snow on the ground, the temperature is above freezing and the sun is shining brightly...plus it is Friday! Oh, yeah - there's that game against the Maple Leafs tonight, too! :D :D :D
  16. Congress. Actually, just about anything government-related. I'm beginning to think that with the internet as it is, we restrict Congress to drafting legislation and then letting the general public vote on it online. I don't think things would be any worse and might even get better.....
  17. OK, not really a "complaint" (well, the complaint is in the not knowing...) For the last few weeks, a very attractive woman I see nearly every day in the cafeteria has been looking in my direction... a lot. I know this woman is married (and just had a child). I am no movie star (well, maybe a slightly taller, heavier version of Danny DeVito) and I really have no interest in any dalliance with married persons. So why the stares? Also, yesterday a perfectly lovely twenty-something walked past me on campus and out of the blue flashed a huge smile and said an excited "Hi!". I just turned 55 and unless someone is starting rumors that I won the lottery (I haven't), what the heck is going on? It took me 25 years to get used to attractive women ignoring me and now for some as-yet-unknown reason, I am suddenly attractive? I don't think so....
  18. Afterwards, one of the local radio stations (WGR, maybe) got hold of a section of the goal posts. They sliced them up into one inch sections, attached them to plaques with the date, score and opponent's name and gave them away. I wound up with one that I held on to for years, until the Bills went to the Super Bowl and the Dolphins began to suck canal water. I think I gave it to one of my friend's kids.....
  19. 1) It is Friday (Yay!) 2) Next week, I have five days of training on a new software package. While the training will be boring, at least I will be away from my desk and especially my phone. (Yay, too!) 3) College and pro football this weekend. 4) The F1 race from Monza on Sunday. 5) The week after next, I am on vacation. In exactly one hour and eleven minutes, the drinks are on me!!! Woo-hoo!
  20. I'm tired of being "the straw that stirs the drink" at work. Even though everyone I work directly with is an educated adult, I feel like nothing gets done unless I push things along. I wouldn't care if I was a director (or assistant director) but I am just the user support guy. I have to constantly remind people higher up in the food chain about deadlines, problems that need to be addressed, etc. I know this isn't really the case, but it sure feels like it. Today, I have to call the support line for a software vendor whose product is not working well with one of our web apps. I didn't write the web app, I don't really know the technical details of how it works but I am the one who "sees the issue all the time". None of the three programmers who wrote the thing would volunteer to initiate the support ticket, so I was "volunteered". It's too bad the job market is so lousy, otherwise I'd be shooting out resumes everywhere. On the plus side - yes, I do have solid employment. I'm going to keep telling myself that all day......
  21. I've been down this road more than once - I have trouble with the "we're just friends" to "now we're dating" thing. I always err on the "friend" side and have lost out on a couple of potentially great relationships. That is MY complaint for the day....
  22. Point taken - well, they used to anyway.... ;)
  23. I don't think I felt the quake (maintenance is always working on something in our building so we are always feeling various vibrations and thumps). Cool! The Italian Fisherman - I had almost forgotten about that place. Ate there once a long time ago....
  24. Although I am not expecting miracles, I think the Bills are playing their cards close to the vest in preseason (maybe TOO close). Remember, back in the Marv Levy era, the team always sucked in the preseason, then would go out and whup the opposition. I think they will be better once the season starts, but maybe not a lot better. Time will tell... One thing does bother me, though... the Bills starting QB graduated from Harvard (yikes); Denver has Kyle Orton, Brady Quinn AND Tim Tebow. While none of them has won anything in the pros as yet, at least they went to colleges with real football programs. You think maybe they could let us have one? ;)
