  1. The online fancy stats people saddle Brian Thomas Jr. with several "red flags" -- something about how alarmingly low his "yards per route run" were. Apparently, this metric, YPRR, is a strong predictor of success in the NFL. And, physical beast though he is, Thomas's isn't good. I think I heard Joe DiBiase on WGR talking about Thomas -- something about "does he evolve into a DK Metcalf comparable" -- who apparently also had similar concerns with his fancy stats while also having physical freak measurables -- "or does he flop like several other physical freak prospects whose advanced stats were not good coming out of college?"
  2. Man, y'all got the Wegmans family and just overall a lot more legacy money than Greater Buffalo. šŸ˜œ
  3. I donā€™t think they stay put. I think theyā€™re more likely to move up to ~20 than anything else. But I also think thereā€™s a good chance they bail on Round 1 and grab two WRā€™s in a draft lousy with them.
  4. <Draft bump> Thought experiment out there has the Bills trading back in order to select 2 WRā€™s. I really like that idea. https://billswire.usatoday.com/lists/mock-draft-2024-nfl-buffalo-bills-keon-coleman-ladd-mcconkey/#
  5. Years ago, we started doing farm shares, produce and meats. Buy Local. More recently, Iā€™ve made a conscious choice to do something similar with music (especially live music). The results have been more rewarding than I could have anticipated. My favourite thing about Listen Local? Buffaloā€™s Del Paxton. I avoid labels and comps when it comes to music ā€” but, Iā€™ll offer: If Rush and Weezer had 3 babies, they grew up in and around central NYS, settled in Buffalo, and became hobbyist runners. I listen to the sh1t out of their catalog.
  6. All fair points, but ā€¦ this isnā€™t binary. Iā€™ve been a Bills STH for a while now. There is something transcendent about being in a stadium and joining in a stretch of cheering delirium. Fandemonium, as Van called it. I said it at the time and Iā€™ll say it forever more: The wildcard round when the Bills demolished the Patriots was the happiest I need to be, probably the happiest I can be over a sporting outcome. I was crying at times ā€” with the tears freezing fast to my face. When the Bills win the Super Bowl, Iā€™ll be in a more static environment. It wonā€™t, canā€™t be the same. I donā€™t think itā€™ll even be as delightful. Weā€™ll see. Whether weā€™re ooohing and ahhhing over a Josh Allen odds defying scramble or wooping and šŸ¤˜ ing at an Eddie Van Halen run of hammer technique arpeggios (RIP), that element of human connection (what some religious call ā€œcommunionā€) adds something unique to and amplifies the enjoyment of the amazing thing weā€™re experiencing.
  7. Pro sports might be a bubble? Think about how out of reach attendance is at an average hockey game for a family of 4. How onerous PSLā€™s are. At some point, the economics could fail.
  8. Haha. I gotchu. Graham is now agnostic (?) as to whether a chunk of the Sabres is up for sale as well. Given that he got burned, it would appear that he's open to the possibility of this being true.
  9. Atrocious or ... clever and true? I sort of think the latter. They've got a fantastic lawyer in-house now. That guy is whip smart. I'm not being facetious in the least. That's not what the statement said. Plus, we have Wawrow confirming that the NHL approved someone to approach the Pegulas (who were told "no"). Plus, @Brawndo has info indicating that a piece (??) of the Sabres can be had for the right price.
  10. He definitely didn't get a clear transmission, but he definitely had something. As for the exact opposite being true, not so: Graham (?) first came out and said "this is about a sale of the Knighthawks - that's all." That is the team that seemed to precipitate the post from 12ozsports. I think that's a focus of his. So, validation for 12oz. Then Graham came out and said: Oops. Chunk of the Bills is also for sale. And Graham then said: I no longer doubt that the same is true for the Sabres. So, stick tap to 12oz. I forget how TerryTheTailer factors into this. What did he Tweet? Nothing like failing to learn from lessons of the past -- especially when "the past" is less than a day ago.
  11. for dunking on them as clickbait knuckleheads who didn't know dip squat when they tweeted yesterday about rumoured sales of Pegula sports stakes being afoot. private equity ruins what it touches. like a reverse midas touch.
  12. an investment that appreciates at a rate that outpaces all other investments. and, in the meantime, a share of those sweet profits.
  13. I think we all owe 12ozsports and TerrytheTailer apologies.
  14. I know your feelings on this. What you propose seems excessive, but there's merit to what you're saying.
  15. At the time, there were fans more educated than me who expressed misgivings with the pace and vibe of the practice where Skinner was mic'dup. Turns out, they were right. so comely.
  16. this overstates matters. but i cannot disagree that the sabres have, at times, been managed like a team being prepared for a sale.
  17. Just asking questions, as the saying goes. I recall both Jordan and Kobe working with the same guy ā€” I could Google his name, but wonā€™t.
  18. ā€¦ go on Interesting though that the bogus report smoked out an admission from Wawrow that someone did approach Pegula in the last 6 mos.
  19. Can confirm: Is not. I mean. Iā€™ve been frustrated with the Pegulasā€™ ownership. But with teams moving and such, idle gossip about the team being sold isnā€™t my jam.
  20. Quick Twitter search has TonytheTailer as the only account saying this. Looking at some of the replies, I do wonder if itā€™s some super subtle form of satire.
  21. My favourite thing about this hogwash is how, if you actually click through and read whatā€™s there, this is a rumour thatā€™s focused on the Rochester Knighthawks. Knighthawks to be sold!! (Sabres to be sold as well.)
