  1. Yo. Whodat.
  2. I received a Winter Classic jersey for Christmas, and I'm gonna say: I sorta like that little NY in there. Well turned.
  3. From what I've seen (limited) and what I've read: The team hasn't played terribly since the All-Star break, and, for decent stretches of time, has played pretty well. They just sorta stink. I'd like to see them get 2 here, in regulation.
  4. Bread and circuses!
  5. Holy crap - that is effing awful.
  6. Ouch for the Colts. They Tweeted it, announced a press conference, etc.
  7. This caught my eye from the Percoco bribery trial ongoing in NYC https://twitter.com/jessemckinley/status/960970017130057728 Howe says that even before he introduced @NYGovCuomo to COR exec he predicted if he mentioned Corvettes, the Gov would "park himself" and talk about Corvettes for a while. And sure enough, the Governor did. So, Howe told his ... clients (?) at COR Development that they could butter up Cuomo with Corvette-talk. Reminded me of this nugget: Ryan returned to New Jersey on Thursday night. Barely 12 hours later the Bills called to set up a second interview. Team president Russ Brandon also texted Ryan the next day: “The owner likes red wine.” https://www.si.com/2015/04/14/rex-ryan-buffalo-bills-new-york-jets
  8. I reckon that's a possibility too.
  9. McDaniels would not have taken the job if he didn't have intell on Luck's shoulder. Time will tell how reliable that intell was.
  10. Gotcha. I think this is a reasonable take.
  11. I've lost the thread a bit. @Randall : Do you believe that the league and/or the referees consciously favour the Patriots, whether on a plotted/planned or ad hoc basis?
  12. Yeah - you're undone here by calling the Ertz TD questionable. Right. I was poised to RAGE if that thing had been called back. So dumb. Collinsworth should have been launched into the sun at that precise moment. In related news, my beloved Liverpool played at home this Sunday against Tottenham. I tuned in for the last 20 minutes - and what a 20 minutes it was. The upshot, insofar as this conversation goes, is that Liverpool, the home team with a very noisy home crowd, suffered from three brutal calls/non-calls from a specific assistant referee (linesman) -- all of which occurred in a ~10-minute span. Apparently, the home crowd influence (from which the Patriots may often benefit) did not reach this particular official.
  13. As someone who's religiously observant and has questioned and chirped the Bills' McDermott era for being, in no small part, "faith-based", I can't say I share this sort of antipathy. Football is a harsh and brutal game. Whatever gets a player through the season is fine by me. Maybe someday someone will give thanks to the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
  14. Geez - Patricia's defense got frickin' smoked. Good luck to you, Detroit Lions. There'd been a lot of talk about how that D had been much, much better the last 2/3 of the season. And I'm sure they had been. It was enjoyable to see them revert to stinking up the joint. p.s. Where the heck was Malcolm Butler?
  15. The fix is to make the Monday after the SB a national holiday. I think that they’ll eventually make the game coincide with Presidents Day weekend.
  16. ^ I hate the fight over a clean hit. That (sort of) includes Eichel throwing hands after Reinhart got rocked at Pittsburgh.
  17. Can't say I'd ever seen that picture of Susan Banks. Aye yi yi. I can't say I ever recall seeing her on TV when I was a kid -- that's probably because my family was devoted to Carol Jasen.
  18. Occasionally, I'm into gossip. Mostly not.
  19. I've come to realize, in the past few days, that the question of whether Eichel and O'Reilly truly don't like each other is deeply uninteresting to me.
  20. The mitigating factor for Gudas seems to be the ... fairly bizarre nature of the hit. Like - what was he even doing there? The thing is just awkward as hell. His story is that he was looking at the puck in the corner, thought the NJ player would vacate that space and follow the other Flyer to the corner, so he leaped to avoid his own player. It's not an implausible take on what we see in the clip. But the guy gets no benefits of the doubt.
  21. Easier to do on a go-forward basis. Using the team-response-to-nonsense as a metric: The Devils are a good team (and I think they're a damn good team otherwise).
