  1. Agreed. If you've watched Thompson play - including in the preseason - you should have seen that his straight line speed is good. He's not quick. And, as dudacek notes, he plays slow.
  2. these guys are in town on friday.
  3. White Tweeted to the effect that Skinner is currently shooting at about 21% His previous career high is 14.4% (rookie year). His career average appears to be about 10.6-10.7%. Obviously, he's never played alongside a play maker as gifted as Eichel. But, even so. He's bound to cool off. Question being: When?
  4. Right. I was trying to determine whether that's the predicate of the joke.
  5. Tough sledding. Let’s go, Buffalo!!
  6. Love Crimson. This one is eluding me though. In the Court of ... ?
  7. An imponderable mystery. I've never seen or read anything to indicate he's a faith-based sort of fella. Have you?
  8. Pegula, presumably.
  9. It’s been a minute. Do people doubt that McDermott is the de facto chief football officer of this franchise? He effectively hired the GM. He’s the voice of the franchise. He stuck with Peterman as long as he could — well beyond when reasonable minds would have. The fact that he begrudgingly let go of him doesn’t undermine the theory that he’s at the top of the organizational pyramid (second only to the Pegulas).
  10. Um, no.
  11. Seriously? Fare thee well, Nathan. Best of luck with your career as an evangelical pastor.
  12. no way i can read that reddit post without some additional corrective lenses of some kind. there are also many charts. so many charts.
  13. I appreciate the insight that this sort of thing provides. But, man. Here's where some eye test, some more subjective stuff, is sorely needed. That wasn't an average hockey club that came back and beat Vancouver on Saturday. ... (Or is it?)
  14. I think the issue with Pominville isn't how fast or quick he can be -- if fully rested, charged up, ready to go -- it's what his speed and quickness become after an extended stay on Eichel's and Skinner's line. I'm with @Taro T -- he just looks a bit gassed.
  15. Hmmm. maybe some of both. but the latter for sure.
  16. Good to see Pominville move down the lineup. Conserve those old legs, a bit.
  17. It is amazing how little value the colour commentator typically provides in an NFL game. I had to drive around much of east Egypt last night for various taxi cab/Uber services for children (mine). So I listened to Westwood One's call of the football game. Mike Mayock is a distinct exception to this deficiency. I'm not saying he's perfect or some savant, but he's good. And as annoying as he can be, Romo is pretty good too in that regard (adding value, insight).
  18. Look at you, the old geezer, with a weed joke.
  19. I'm seeing that as well. Inevitable, really. Did I hear correctly that Reinhart was on the Eichel line in the 3rd period?
  20. Is that — is that good?
  21. Not the only one. I said something about what looked like a feigned bobbling upthread, and someone replied saying it was a Vanek-esque move.
  22. Per Housley, Eichel had a lower body bump/bruise - will be evaluated tomorrow.
  23. Ehh. There are reasons given where I live. I have 2 huge trees on an urban street. So, a lot of leaves. And they create storm drain issues. Snowblower issues. Also, my fat ass can use the exercise.
  24. Mittlestadt’s interview about the SO was so great. He was just like — basically — “NBD. I love shootouts.” He’s so slick that I think he almost feigned losing the handle before he made that last juke.
