  1. Well. Good, I guess? I’m sorta fascinated by the prospect of having some mysterious renaissance dude behind the bench.
  2. I know nothing about the guy other than what's in this thread. But, man -- how is this guy a HC candidate? Sounds very much more like a Prez of Hockey Ops as others have noted.
  3. Good effin' call. Memory does not serve: Who was/were his (or his designees') chosen media for leaking those tidbits?
  4. Thanks for taking the time, perfesser.
  5. He’s a far superior talent, but he comes off as just as much (maybe even more) of a d1ck.
  6. Thing is ... it would make complete SENSE for the Bills to release McCoy, having made the moves they have at RB. On top of that, they could spin the release as being a service of sorts to the veteran -- letting him return to Philly, presumably.
  7. PFT Commenter's dog says the Bills will release McCoy. Now, the trick with Leroy is that he's somewhere between incredibly juiced insider and parody account.
  8. JFC. Awful. These TBN alumns are starting to bring me around to supporting Harrington. Which is really saying something.
  9. What a year for the English clubs, for sure. The combination of what Liverpool and Tottenham did is just unfathomable.
  10. Where's @MODO Hockey with the fired up emoji when I need him?
  11. Two different players, for sure. I'm comfortable having concluded that Kane can fit in and do well with San Jose because they're a veteran team, and that he wasn't as good a fit in Buffalo because it's a team that needs to be led by young players. As for ROR, the more distance I get from the situation the more it confuses me. Terrific player. Invaluable player. And yet, he had to go? Sweet Baby Jesus, yes. I love watching him. My context is limited in terms of being able to compare him to other players. Who's his veteran comparable?
  12. One of the reliable guys from TSN (?) called it when the hiring was made -- said he'd not be surprised if Holland took a GM position elsewhere.
  13. i thought it was campbell.
  14. In fairness, I recall FGMTM talking about how Reinhart's marching orders during his final year in Juniors involved doing a lot of things that would probably result in him producing less for his team but doing more to ready himself for pro hockey. No idea what those things might have been. But whatever he did was borne out in his numbers -- he went from a 1.75PPG player in his draft year to more like a 1.35PPG player in that final year.
  15. I don't know enough to have much of a take on this issue -- it's a complicated one. But I do disagree with this. Intuitively, there's a huge difference between playing as a player who is both elite and among the oldest in your league, and a playing as a player who's got great skill but is a young man in a grown ass man's league.
  16. Fair enough, Lionel.
  17. Or they're just using the terminology that is used in the industry they're covering. Like, imagine if financial reporters in 2008 had refused to use the term "collateralized debt obligations"? Or if reporters covering the legal system preferred to talk about a "bad court thingy" instead of a "mistrial."
  18. Thanks for the Leafs insight, @millbank -- appreciated. What you're offering is about the Leafs, of course, but it's also something to think about when it comes to how other rosters may be built in the league.
  19. I think Kenny calls a nice game. I'll take him in a heartbeat over just about anyone else that NBC trots out for play by play. I was also unfamiliar with the woman doing colour -- she was good. I also thought I heard Milbury chiming in from time to time during the game's broadcast. That wasn't him?
  20. A 3-technique, to be precise. So, yeah. Looks like the media’s adopting the sport’s lexicon more and more.
  21. Fo sho. And to Ink’s point, there’s definitely some “kewl inside baseball jargon” going on here too.
