  1. Fair. Although I suspect the word is already out in league circles. I mean, his agent's more than capable of letting other teams know.
  2. Yeah - he's essentially talked his way out of town with that.
  3. Jack says he has to be ready to play hockey next season - wherever that might be.
  4. Goodbyes can take a while.
  5. Does he just have the one year left? Change of plans: McCabe going before Eichel. 🤨
  6. Based on what I saw on Twitter: Risto openly talked about going somewhere else. Reinhart refused to comment on his future with the club, and focused on his disappointment from this season.
  7. For this past season of discontent, I agree with @tom websterthat @LGR4GM is a worthy honoree. In really dark times for the Sabres, he’s remained focused, committed, and informative. He needs the occasional chill pill, but I wouldn’t want him any other way.
  8. The snark is my way of expressing deep dissatisfaction with a society that can’t pull together to defeat a common enemy. I didn’t say anything about charlatans and rednecks, so I’m not sure where that’s coming from. Here’s my view of the thing: Our (western) society has become incredibly, overwhelmingly centered around the individual. This finds expression on both sides of the political spectrum. To me, there’s little difference between the whole “hey that’s just cis normative” I am what I identify as and society must be reconfigured to accommodate me and my me-ness, on one hand, and the anti-science (even if only softly so) don’t tread on me approach to the world where everyone seems to be entitled to their own facts, on the other. The dirty secret to mass vaccination programs is that there will be casualties and even fatalities. This is a war. In order to win, everyone must be prepared to accept an incredibly small risk of a bad outcome — a risk, btw, that is demonstrably lower - way lower - than having the disease to begin with. We gotta pull together, or we will die alone.
  9. Nah. Not really. I find this line of thinking to be less than intellectually honest. But, hey: A big shoutout to all the statistics and logical guys and gals out there. And here's to a world where COVID-19 is ever with us. Viruses like polio and small pox must be bummed that they're confined to a super secure CSC lab location in Atlanta.
  10. Refusing a vaccination without some good cause (like a real medical issue that makes getting the vaccination a bad idea) will help ensure that the virus becomes endemic and possibly mutates into a variant that will defeat existing vaccinations. Refusing a vaccination is maybe not sounding like a jerk, but it's acting like one.
  11. Start that other goalie, Don - 7 in a year is really something.
  12. Maybe most everyone knows about this guy. I only found out about him because of TikTok. Some of the best content out there on the 'net, for sure. Any true hockey fan will enjoy his musings, quiet adventures, pastimes, and reflections. https://www.instagram.com/tv/COgzaO5HjQi/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link He's got a few longer form pieces on YouTube (which will embed).
  13. I don't think either of the takes above get it quite right with regard to what Allen said about the COVID-19 vaccinations. I've said my piece about it upthread. Allen definitely related an unwarranted level of vaccination skepticism, and made some vague reference to "stats" in order to substantiate his view.
  14. Epic. Epic. Rick's call should be enshrined in the HHOF.
  15. I'm not sure I buy all of that. However, I do love Rick's trademark way of saying a Sabres opponent "SCORES!" in a dismayed and disbelieving way.
  16. I think having him call 10-15 homes games next season makes good sense. It will indeed be interesting to see how it shakes out.
  17. I agree with this, mostly. There are plenty of times when Ray is just being himself, and it's frequently golden. The problem is ... he's not much of an analyst. Hear, hear.
  18. Oh, also: That Richard Jewel movie gave me such a sad. OTOH, Richard Jewel wasn't part of huge kick in the nuts in connection with an imbalanced trade.
  19. Man. I am genuinely perplexed that so many posters here hate Drury. I mean. The guy's not particularly likable - that I will admit. But there's some revisionist history going on here as well. He was an absolute beacon of a bright light during one of the franchise's best stretches of play and success. Plus, he got Campbell to turn off that fu*king radio in the locker room and also got everyone eating plain pasta and chicken dishes before games.
  20. How some punk-ass, no-heart journeyman wound up walking away from the Sabres -- thereby somehow making the ROR trade even worse -- and has subsequently been charged by Swedish authorities with sexual assault/rape. Or: What a POS Berglund is.
  21. Hating Drury is a thing among Sabres fans? Seriously? How.
