  1. I liked the Sabres team I saw last night.
  2. Where's ... oh what's his name. The guy who worked in an operational role and got to serve as emergency goalie.
  3. Ha. The thing that I saw a few times in that footage - something that, as far as I know, has nothing to do with a bum shoulder - was Edmunds shooting the wrong gap. That's consistent with the frustration many have had with his game.
  4. Thanks very much for this - I didn't have any context for @CallawaySabres's track record when it comes to inside scoops. Respect! Fwiw: My third-hand inside source has related the same sort of feedback/update on Eichel. What a bummer. Welp. Onward.
  5. In fairness, this was in the midst of his shoulder injury.
  6. Thanks. Where might I find those comments? I missed them the first time around, for sure. It's also apples:oranges, as between the local NFL team and the local NHL team. There's just no comparison between what potential sponsors will want from a franchise QB and a franchise centre. In addition to which: Allen has a natural charisma about him that Eichel does not.
  7. I can't help but apply a healthy dose of skepticism to what you're dishing here -- this scoop is in-line with a rumour/narrative that's been swirling on message boards and Twitter for some time.
  8. I think this confuses me further. In any case, seems fair to say that you have a friend who's on personal speaking terms with K. Adams and a current Sabres player, and your friend has related to you his sense of what Adams' and that player's views are on Eichel.
  9. This is quite a scoopy post. It's a little difficult, however, to tease out what you're attributing to Adams' close friend (and therefore to Adams?), and what is your own sense of things. The bolded part above is especially interesting. Can you clarify, expand? As in, what did your friend say, specifically, and did he attribute those things to Adams?
  10. Some segments of the PSE social media team are really, really good. Others, not so much.
  11. What an incredibly stupid perspective. 🙄
  12. Easy, Sparky.
  13. It’s a fair take, at worst. And it’s a good take, IMO. It overstates matters slightly, but not overly. I really like Tremaine - he seems like a solid dude. And there’s still time for his game to grow — he was so young when he came in, as you note. But his instinctive football IQ seems low. Hence the Risto comparison: A physical freak who is somehow less than the sum of his parts. Also, hat tip to @inkman who was the poster to open my eyes to this. Well, it was ink and my teenaged son whose opinions eventually landed with me.
  14. My then 12 year old son - whose football acumen is a function of playing Madden on PlayStation and watching the NFL on TV - said of Edmunds: “That guy’s a beast. ... But he’s in the wrong gap more than half the time.”
  15. This is as good a place as any for this.
  16. DB, for sure. I was gonna say "CB," but I recently read something about nickel corners/safeties, and it confused me enough that I'm gonna say DB.
  17. They sorta do? In a digital sense. The thing that made me do a triple take on NFT's was when I read that owning an NFT has no bearing, per se, on having intellectual property rights to the thing itself. So, that piece of digital art that went for many, many millions of dollars, if I have this right, the person who "bought it" (as an NFT (?)) now has a blockchain embedded, unique signifier establishing that the artwork is theirs. But they don't have any exclusive rights to it. Isn't that the whole concept of property? The right to exclude others therefrom? Are NFT's not ... property? Sheesh. I'm unclear on what's actually owned. The signature itself?
  18. Legend. I've told it here, but my favourite stories about Miller were (1) how he created a "hide in plain sight" Myspace account when he arrived in Buffalo. (2) My sports-know-nothing uncle lived near him around Elmwood Village, and told pleasant stories about how he enjoyed jamming on acoustic guitars with his nice new neighbour.
  19. I read the same thing - maybe a military assignment for dad? He has a brother who was born in the area.
  20. I like the Rousseau (sp?) pick. A few things I heard or read that I like: (1) Huge upside. I like that Beane swings for the fences. I realize that there will be misses (arguably Edmunds has been one, sorta), but it's a good approach. (2) Said to be well-raised by a solid family. That makes him a fit for the Bills #culture. (3) I heard one scout say that he loved how Rousseau can keeps his eyes in the backfield (on the QB) as he works through blocks. Playing high is a concern. But I feel like that's a technique issue that can be addressed.
  21. If you're icing an all-time Sabres team, Eichel skates on the top line as a wing or centres the second line. I realize that creates an issue with Lafontaine. Come to think of it - I think I prefer Eichel on the wing on the top line. I think Lafontaine is more of a playmaker than Eichel. I'm talking strictly in terms of the calibre of player - not stats, accomplishments, etc.
  22. He's got a punchable face. That pairs nicely with playing with jam. Hopefully, he can make it work (for the Sabres) in the NHL .
  23. Yeah - agreed 100%. Other than being obviously annoyed at Hamilton (and I agree that the inclusion of "moving your feet" sealed that deal), there was nothing unusual about this at all.
