I watched through the first 4 goals of last night's game. I haven't seen a playoff series where defenders were made to look like pylons, like that, since the Sabres demolished the Flyers and Hatcher was getting his doors blown off. It was astonishing.

Don't you start.

All about the fair use, baby.

That doesn’t appear to be an official, franchise-licensed product, fwiw.

Reading through this thread got me like

Fook Cole Beasley with 5 CD’s of his lame ass “rap” album. Sideways. Bills are teed up to make a Super Bowl run and this idiot wants to have his own facts. Loudly.

An absolutely lovely guy - a true beaut. Get well soon.

My sense was, and is, that the neck injury pre-dated that specific incident -- that getting nudged into the boards aggravated it, worsened it. I'm the one who introduced the weightlifting issue. There's no conspiracy being suggested. I am wondering - sure, speculating - as to whether being an apparent nutter for throwing weights around would have prevented, or maybe somehow contributed, to his injuries, including the herniation of a cervical disc. For ready reference, see above. p.s. This is a message board. And I'm just asking questions.

Fair. Entirely possible. I will just add: That video immediately - viscerally - struck me as odd when I first saw it. There was no over-thinking it at that point. Just something about it had me like "... huh." "Old times sake." "Still got it!" I'm not looking for nuance. Those phrases mean what they mean. Now, I will admit, those meatheads may not have meant (or even known) what those phrases mean or naturally imply. And yet.

The timing of the video sounds like it was immediately following the 2017-2018 season. Eichel rolled by for a visit and a hang (in So Cal). They went into his friend's workout room, and, it seems to me somewhat casually, Eichel did the 275x5 reps for "old times sake." As @Randall Flagg notes, it's not as though Eichel had stopped lifting or anything - presumably not. The scene just seemed sort of ... casual, like I said. As if Eichel showed up, and they were going to go for beers and tacos, but on the fly Jack was like "let me see if I can still hang clean (or whatever) 275x5." Oh, and hear what Eichel says at the end: "Still got it!" Does that not imply that he hadn't done that in a while? I dunno. He herniated a disc in his neck. Could overdoing it with the weights have played a role? That seems possible. I don't believe it - I wonder about it, though.

I've been thinking about this video a lot lately. Part of the poster's comment is also relevant: "Jack Eichel hang cleans 275x5 like it’s nothing. This is very, very impressive stuff. If you’re a hockey fan, you know Jack as a NHL All-Star who is one of the best young players in the league. If you’ve followed me for awhile, you’ll recognize Jack as the kid who used to do amazing gym feats with me back in middle school and high school (he cleaned 300 pounds when he was 16). We haven’t trained together for four years since I moved to LA and he went to college and now the pros, so it’s great to have him come visit me and throw some weights around for old times sake. He had an unmatched work ethic as a kid and has continued that into his pro career, which is why he’s been so successful." +++ I have no idea of whether Eichel's commitment to weight lifting played a role in his neck injury. But the idea that he showed up at his old friend's house and started "throwing weights around" (in an impressive fashion) was potentially concerning at the time, and maybe is even more so in hindsight.

went to the movie theatre with friends to see it - practically pissed my pants at times, i found it so funny.
-
I checked to see whether they were close in terms of timing - and they were.
-
Okay - I checked. Lindy’s final season in Buffalo was 2012-2013. Risto’s first season was 2013-2014. Who was at the draft table when Devine asked Pegula whether he wanted the team to get harder to play against? Still Darcy?
-
Indeed. Would he be reunited with Lindy? I'm not even looking up whether Risto played under Ruff here. It's gotta be close? Or nah.

Report Sabres preparing for An Additional Top Ten Pick
That Aud Smell replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Hey - at least things are getting interesting. -
What if the objection is to taking on a top-tier salary, and a preference to build a roster with more balance?
-
Watched a good chunk of the game yesterday - and, man, the Islanders were really something. Their style of play can make for somewhat dull regular season games, but, come playoff time, that style is well-suited to the pace and urgency of play, and makes for an exciting game.

I lived in a mill town (paper) for a year or so. You do stop noticing.

Punching down is wack as hell.

It do stank. Miss me with this stuff, though.
