  1. Same. On further reflection, that was some low event hockey in those days. FFS - they're icing Lucic out there. I'll take it!
  2. Holy sh1tballs that was fun.
  3. I didn’t use it as you suggest. I used it to observe that it’s in-line with current fashion — “clean,” as the high school boys whom I drive to practice say … so, yes: Targeted to those who are about that style.
  4. Well - I learned the term from a guy who was in his 70s in the 1990s - so you’re eligible. (It just means fashion of the day/moment.)
  5. FWIW - that mostly white look is de rigueur. I don’t think we’re the targeted demographic.
  6. Let's go, Buffalo! Dahlin with a multi-point night and, naturally, the GWG. Thompson also gets one.
  7. /stick taps
  8. Fair, fair. But I mean - there were high marginal tax rates applied to a lot of those earnings and there was some spend down as the money was earned. I'm guessing he's sitting on a 6-figure pot (but probably < 750K). That'll set up nicely for retirement - probably an early one. But some cash flow in the meantime is probably needed.
  9. For sure. Once he's done, he'll have grossed ~$2.5M (hard to say exactly as those veteran AHL contracts often don't have reported value) in exchange for ~10 years of professional play. And like I said - he's been smart with his money. That'll be a sweet nest egg to sit on while he figures out his next chapter.
  10. No shame in that. Far from it. The A is (arguably?) the second best professional hockey league in the world. A friend of mine has a kid (no longer a kid) who's made a career in the AHL. There have been probably fewer than 80 (?) NHL games along the way for him. The guy's into his early 30's now, has worn a letter for at least one AHL team, and has been smart with his money. Perhaps he hasn't lived "the" dream, but he's lived "a" dream.
  11. This guy's been around a bit, I've heard. And it looks like he's about to be everywhere. For good reason. His new album is excellent. As much as anything, I love a musical artist with a sense of place, a sense of their home, where they're from, what it feels, sounds, smells like to be from there, to be of there. Noah Kahan is a special talent. This song is a sparkler.
  12. Let's go, Buffalo! I like the idea of the team's emerging breakout player - Cozens - returning to Edmonton to frustrate the best player on the planet.
  13. I cared more about his 17/85 line carrying a cool, even 5.0 YPC. There's a lot of post-game talk about Allen, Diggs, Davis, Knox, Miller, Taron ... and rightfully so. But Singletary's - and his blockers' - performance was quietly one of the most encouraging parts of the game. (And yes, we were all yelling at the TV to go forward rather than lateral in that moment.)
  14. Noted. Even so: There's got to be some truth there. I can't imagine a player ever takes it as a positive when they're moved from centre to wing. (I'm sure Mittlestadt will work hard and maintain a good attitude if playing the wing.) I also note my concern with your apparent loss of first person pronouns. Perhaps you've been reading too many of @Taro T's posts.
  15. It’s a demotion from playing center. That Cozens line is working - so don’t mess with it.
  16. Damn man - you just erased Olofsson from the top 12.
  17. I caught only chunks of the game. I thought Thompson’s line looked better than in Game 1. Nah?
  18. I like HC DG and want to believe. But that PP is an indictment on the coaching staff, imo. I can’t recall seeing a worse one.
  19. Can confirm — a billion odd man rushes is too many.
  20. Leaky as hell. What is going on? They’re fun to watch, but that is a losing brand of hockey. This is the only question I can focus on right now.
  21. Another rough start for a young club. Florida is flying.
  22. I read the topic title and I heard my favourite Buffalo beer vendor bellowing his famous line “you get a warm beer from me … you get it for free!” (No idea why that line would be the Conehead line.)
  23. They beat the Islanders on Thursday. At Long Island. 3-1, with an EN.
  24. Let’s Go, Buffalo. So odd to have a matinee game so soon.
