  1. The infamous interview of the beautiful blubbering bro Bills fan starts at around the :40 mark of the video at this link (sorry - this is the only source that is readily found). https://www.wgrz.com/article/news/local/bills-make-buffalo-shout-on-new-years-eve/71-503875511 I still can't find the Tweet that I recall from Portnoy (and I believe it was taken down because it infringed WGRZ's copyright) - which I recall being fully in praise of the guy's purity of spirit, etc. Interestingly, his corresponding blog post still exists. And it's ... more of a mixed bag (than I recall the Tweet being). Which is fitting, I guess.
  2. Ha. Zero. The only way I can manage being in the stadium is to have every available wit at my disposal. I'm generally there with one of my kids (some of whom are young adults by now) and that has something to do with the approach as well.
  3. ha - reminds me of this bit
  4. It's almost Christmas and @deluca67 .500 is within reach. Let's get it, boys. PLEASE.
  5. I was at the game Saturday night and want to shout out the most authentic Santa I've ever encountered in the wild. He was sitting somewhere up yonder in the 307-308 area. His red suit looked handmade (and well made). His beard was real (and snowy white). When I hollered out "thank you, Santa!" as he was passing by to grab food or take a bio break, he sorta half turned toward me, gave a polite wave, had A TWINKLE IN HIS FUGGIN' EYE (he appeared stone cold sober, btw), let out a little "ho ho," and said "you're welcome, young man. Merry Christmas!" Made my night, honestly.
  6. I cannot, will not begrudge this view. The guy's done plenty to earn it. I will just add: He's the producing force behind what is, to me, the funniest, most entertaining "sports" podcast out there (Pardon My Take). He's also the person who gave a platform for the Zero Pod Thirty (?) podcast that has a military/vets foundation - and 2 of the contributors there are just fantastic (Chaps and Kate). As to the latter, Kate, she is easily one of my favorite content creators out on teh interwebs. Such a funny and genuine person. And not for nothing: Portnoy is also the person who brought on the "Out and About" podcast, which focuses on gay culture and features 2 very entertaining (and very gay) hosts. The list goes on. So, for me, the Portnoy guy (and Barstool) is a bit of complicated mess. He's often a troll and always an uber Delta Bravo. But he's also a modern day Vince McMahon - the guy knows how to entertain and promote.
  7. Portnoy is a complicated public figure, imo. He is a true entrepreneur who has assembled an extensive bench of talent in the podcast/media space. He has a keen eye for talent and he knows how to promote personalities, events, etc. - not unlike Vince McMahon. There’s other stuff going on too, which isn’t great. I will always credit him for loving on the video of the tearful Buffalo fan who was interviewed at a NYE party in 2017. I wish I could find the Tweet or clip. It’s the one where the guy blubbers his way through the Bills’ path to the Super Bowl - concluding with a rousing “it’s hard to beat a team three times!” in reference to an AFC Championship game at New England.
  8. People who practice sports bigamy tend to be.
  9. The Sabres are currently 3 games under .500.* *The so-called @deluca67 .500, which, IMO, is the only measure of .500 that matters. I had some home improvement stuff to complete last night. I didn't have the game on the ipad or anything while we worked. I glanced at the Score app throughout the first 1/2 of the game. Sheesh, I thought. Then I saw the app update the score with Thompson's first goal. Next time I looked, it was 6-0. And I was just ... wut? This team is fascinating and fun (and at times frustrating (all the F's!)).
  10. Speaking of 80s Bills greats, I was watching a non-Bills NFL broadcast at some point this season and Jerry Butler’s name came up as a holder of some WR record (or maybe a top-3 placeholder). It was cool to see that.
  11. I remain confused. I wasn’t aware of the Bills making highlight videos back then. Regardless, if someone says “name the premier Bills running back from the early and mid 80s,” fans are going to say Cribbs (not Hooks or Riddick).
  12. I get the sense no one’s really in on OBJ to play this season. If Beasley can generate that “passing as running game” element, it will mask some of the line’s deficiencies.
  13. Huh? Cribbs was a premier RB1 in his (brief) heyday. And an excellent pass catcher to boot.
  14. Checks out. Hence trying to sign that Washington third down back (I forget his name), then drafting Cook, then signing Hines. As for Hines: We are still waiting on that guy to make a play. Hasn't happened yet. But I think it will!
  15. If Beasley can get the team 3 or 4 first downs per game when it's 3rd and 6 (or less), I will purchase and listen to his sh1tty rap music.
  16. He used to, anyway. (I'll keep saying it.) Maybe the training staff can get him injected with some TB12 magic juice or something. I am all in on hoping Beasley can deliver that 6 catches for 34 yards type line.
  17. Possibly? There was an early (the first?) play of the game for the Bills where Allen *had* Diggs (for a big gain or maybe even a YAC score) and just missed him by a bunch. So there's probably something to the idea that the elbow is affecting accuracy/timing. But for the drops I have in mind? Those are not on the QB. Those are eliciting "CATCH THE EFFING BALL" cries from our area of the 300s. Nobody used to move the chains like Beasley, anyway. He was incredible. Was. God willing, he can find the magic for a few months. Agreed 100% that McKenzie cannot be the team's first choice at slot receiver.
  18. Nah, man. The fault with the drops lies overwhelmingly with our skill position players. Knox and Singletary each had at least one groaner against the Jets. And McKenzie had 2 crucial drops (of eminently catchable balls (in one case, he just lacked the footwork and body control to make what should be a simple catch at that level)) - hence the Beasley signing. Crowder's injury looms large for the Bills. McKenzie is not a playoff team's slot receiver. Sorry, Lil' Dirty. You're just not reliable.
  19. Beasley liked the Tweet.
  20. The Bills sorely miss what Beasley used to do. I don’t think Beasley can do that anymore.
  21. I can't disagree with any of this - except for the fact that we stuck it out and stayed for the 2nd half. The Bills desperately need to upgrade that O-line. Among other things, Knox's production is suffering as a result of its inadequacy.
