Most of us have played organized sports on some level, I played baseball into my college years and I'm a very competitive person. But I can't begin to imagine the level of competitive fire that burns in the belly of a professional athlete. I just can't believe that even if an athlete were to entertain the fleeting thought of tanking for the greater good of the franchise, that that notion would last for even one millisecond once he steps on the ice. These guys just aren't wired for it. We've all heard how pissed they get when reporters ask them about tanking. It's offensive to who they are at their very core and I don't blame them one bit for getting testy. When it appears that players might be in on the tank it's because collectively as a team they just aren't very good.

When you come right down to it the Sabres have had no business losing (CHL) well over half of the games that they've lost all year. The great aberration of late November into December is the only reason this thing is still in question.

Yep, even with a handful of guys taking their foot off the gas the yotes get blown out last night. It's like we've always said, players don't ever, ever tank.

Neither the #1 or #2 pick in this draft will be traded. The Buffalo Sabres are done tanking in 18 days (or less) regardless of where they pick in the 2015 draft.

What we do or don't do as fans makes no difference, the GM's will not meddle, and the players and coaches of both teams will be playing to win. Let the chips fall where they may and if the Coyotes edge us for 30th then all you can do is tip your cap to them for out tanking us with an epic late season run and hope that lady luck smiles on us or the Coyotes in the lottery.

Were talking past each other I think. McDavid is undoubtedly the ultimate goal best outcome to two years of tanking, but there's no way DR or GMTM embarked on this road thinking the only way we come out of it as a yearly contender is if we get McDavid. There's just no way their rebuild plan was that narrow in focus.

It did start McKinnons year...way too late and with too much meat left on the roster to finish the job. Thus the subsequent suffering press conference and the two full season shows we have witnessed.

The goal was McEichel just like the goal in 05-07 was the Stanley Cup. Missing out doesn't make it a total failure. Anyone who can't see that is fooling themselves. So there!

Sigh. It was never, ever, ever about one player. If it was then DR and GMTM are equally idiotic to set themselves up for an extremely difficult to achieve all or nothing rebuild scenario. Two camps who are convinced they are right and never the twain shall meet. 10 friggin games.
