Yeah I don't think they ever got much play even on Buffalo radio let alone other US markets in the 90's despite how big they are there, but I could be wrong. Probably their biggest US 'breakthrough' was playing SNL supporting Day For Night circa 1995, with fellow Kingston-ite and friend of the band Dan Aykroyd hosting. With the same JV scenario with the Sabres as a perennial playoff team I'd say 5-10% chance, but a real free agent scenario with our deep pocketed owner allows us to sweeten the deal enough to compensate for much of because Buffalo eventually. It's always going to be an issue on some level for the Sabres IMO.

I haven't read all the debate, but IMHO when New York, Boston, Toronto, Chicago and Pittsburgh are all in on a guy with Buffalo and $ is pretty much the same, I see Buffalo winning the day exactly 0% of the time. Call it because Buffalo or whatever you like, I just call it the hard reality.

This. He was going to be a FA if Boston, Toronto or Chicago traded for his rights early too. Buffalo trading for his rights upped the chances of signing him this week from Vesey's agent probably not even taking our phone call to at least being in the conversation. It was worth one of our four third round picks to get that upgrade.
