That is exactly what I believe will happen, this model is a flawed failure it has been repeated over an over.... I do not see it changing... it seems that it may have been a proper strategy once upon a time... in the beginning of the rebuilding 10 years ago... unfortunately it has been our mantra and now it may be the only choice left as players dont want to come here, rumblings of desire to leave and or are reticent to stay behind closed doors... it is further compounded by the fact they have eradicated the brand so viciously that they are a running joke and attracting solid talent with the win or die trying attitude is about impossible... and if you do a player for player swap you are all but limited to players with no trade clauses... and you have to typically over pay in that space... or rarely get the best player... Until the over all lay of the land changes here and the team is immersed in credibility and competence this is likely the way its going to continue to be... you are probably going to get your best on paper value out of prospects and picks... you are likely not getting the best player i the trade... so you trade for picks and prospects with upside or you over pay. and the last dirty secret as I see it... as I am watching Tuch get older and hearing rumblings there... Dahlin having conversations with KA seemingly not amused with what is going on, Peterka showing resistance, how long is it before these core players want out... like how many seasons is Dahlin going to accept never being in the playoffs... currently 7 years out of his NHL career? ... When is Thompson going to demand to be moved after spending 7 years of his career with no playoffs? The reality of this is we may be closer to rebuilding again then we are to making the playoffs... if it doesnt happen this year... Is Dahlin and Thompson gonna want to go into year 9 looking for their first appearance... If it doesnt happen this year or at the outside next. I think their will be anarchy in the locker room from some of our core leaders... trades demanded and the rebuild begins again... Who knows... it may have already been forced on us and our FO doesnt know or accept it... this summer will tell us a lot more...

I agree 100% At this point no more prospects or lesser pieces... you wanna trade JJ fine, but you better be getting the best player in the trade... (more likely is Adams moves him for a lesser player and a pick... JJ goes on to be Reinhardt and we are left to wallow in our GMs own incompetence..) you wanna bring in Robertson that might work... I honestly don't know who I would move him for that makes us better and takes into account what I think is his likely upside... but hey... find me that person and we can talk... otherwise... JJP stays. I think I have said this before... there is no player on this team i would not trade... as long as we are getting the best player back... Dahlin... fine... but he better be a piece in a trade to get a superstar like MacKinnon or Drasaitl or McJeebus or something crazy like fine trade Turgeon but you better be getting back LaFontaine...

I think we all know what is going to happen... Adams will make plays for players that can help the organization, they will not want to come here because this organiation is the worst in professional sports with no relief in sight... Adams will blame palm trees and then use our existing players and prospects and over pay to bring on middling players at best (Malynstien, Laugherty, etc... ) who wont move the needle devoid us of potentially some premium talent (who would have left us anyways) and we will be in an out of last place in the conference again all year. Nothing changes until Pegula sells or drastically changes the organizational structure to include a legitimate person to steer the ship and cede control to that person. Until then we are on the hamster wheel...

I think if Adams said hey you can pick your staff... but Mr Pegula likes these guys and really wants you to take a look at them... fine... but if there was someone he wanted badly to add and couldnt last year that should have been a red flag... HOWEVER after "looking at them" for a full year with this disastrous season I see one of two possibilties... Lindy wants to make changes and cant... or Lindy actually believes that this level of performance by his assistants was acceptable... either one is damning of Lindy... the last and final option not Lindy's fault was they said... go ahead Lindy, hire who you want... and literally no one wanted to come here.... that is a distinct possibility and even more damning of our situation.... bottom line ... not good no matter how you look at it.

Not sure the optics of trading Power for a middle 2/3 historical D pairing guy is enough return, I feel like he (Power) would be better used as a chip to get a much more game changing player (like on the other side optically getting a former 1st overall that has been at least offensively reasonably productive) ... so I would look to people like Muel, Quinn, Rosen, picks etc... to get that done... Just thinking out loud... guy is a pretty big hitter... is he the guy you look to pair with Power on a 2nd line D pair... I dont know enough about other aspects of his game, but does his toughness elicit more toughness from Power if he is playing with him? Just a thought....

But I think our coaching situation is similar to the WWE it is basically scripted to what is going to happen next.... Here is where I get concerned... 1 year deal, do we trade those assets away for a 1 year rental... if you do the deal it needs to come with a contract extension. I personally would be reluctant to trade Helenius, I honestly see his attitude as part of a solution... I am not saying i wouldnt but I would really need to be sold on the player...

I agree, I do think that if this structure fails Adams is probably gone... in fact I might say 1 foot out the door.. the question will be does Pegula relinquesh control and if he doesnt does Jarmo stay?

Whats funny is that we even need to say that... things are that bad that the most obvious dripping sarcasm from the original poster on any other board would get a laugh lol... but here... we actually contemplate if they were serious or not... No this doesnt make me have faith that we will do a good job drafting nor make the team markedly better... but i do like the idea of using the resources available to aid a process.... I can only imagine how crazy things are on draft days, draft boards, watching other teams boards seeing who they may take, talking trades, reprioritizing players, etc... all with a time deadline anything they can do to ease communication obstacles etc I am sure would be welcomed in the draft room... costs them nothing... solid move even if it is just to give them a bit more sanity on draft day.

Sabres another unsuccessful year Jarmo makes suggestions that he believes would improve the team Conflict arises from this situation as Pegula wants two voices Karmanos is like "you have got to be kidding me" and is out A power struggle ensues with Adams and Jarmo and Pegula has to sort it out... while he is pondering Jarmo resigns a la Fontaine takes another job Adams is now POHO and GM Sabres are on year 15 without the playoffs and the situation has gotten so toxic that no professional hockey mind in their right senses will come here Pimlach volunteers and is hired and the situation slowly improves... LOL... ok maybe thats a bit much.... but you all get the point.

I think after reading this its shows that there is nothing different going on than we have been opining on for a long long time... Pegula meddles, doesnt really care, outside of needing his ego boosted by oking routine decisions. Has Adams because Adams is just thankful to be here and allows Pegula to run the team... we are on a hamster wheel going round and round with no real change in sight... and the overall ineptness of this structure is driving consequential talent away and preventing others from walking thru the gates of hades to commence their suffering... Bottom line nothing changes until Pegula sells... or drastically changes his overall structure from Scouting right thru running the team... effectively, this is like calling an exterminator to a home ridden with termites in hopes of remediating the problem... his advice is the only way to fix the problem is to burn the house to ground.... and that is where we sit... the only fix is to burn the front office structure to the ground and bring in people that are qualified professionals.... this I fear means TP has to sell... but who knows maybe he comes around to understand what we have all known for years and years and years...

How could this level of ineptitude not drive the core away... I am shocked its only 25%, I would say if you are a player and you are happy with the direction of the team that would give me pause... I suspect there are a lot of players but most arent talking.

So I am in 100% agreement, in a normal circumstance we are not looking for the owner to be out there twice a year talking about his team... but after 14 years of abject failure and his brand reduced to a pile of steaming rubble, I feel like if I were the owner I would want to be out there trying to bolster my brand and let my fans know that I care... but thats me... Pegula is not that way, he is very awkward speaking and is clearly not comfortable... throw Harrington in there LOL and he is not gonna do it... I think its a case of the longer this goes on with the failure and Radio Silence the harder it is for him to get out and talk... I think the next time will be a with an inevitable sweeping change announcement... but who knows when that will happen... 6 months 2 years... who knows...
