I still want Beniers. Worst case he ends up being a good 2-way 2C putting up 50-55 points a year. I’d be thrilled with that result.

I have only seen a few highlights of each, and what has been discussed here. My vote is Beniers. Nothing that happens between now and the draft will change my mind....except for a bizarre off-ice incident.

Trading him in-season is unlikely to happen...or will severely limit the number of teams who can fit $10mil cap hit once rosters get finalized as the season draws close.

I’m not sure the Kings would even go for a 1 for 1 swap, Byfield for a broken Eichel. Even if he gets a glowing medical report, would you take a chance on him this off-season without any post-injury game action? What team is going to give up significant assets for him...unless it is conditional picks based on games played

What else were they going to do? Give those minutes to some journeyman scrub instead?

If Beniers is a very good 2 way player who can score 50-60 points a year, be a good locker room guy and a member of the core for the next 10 years, sign me up...even if he is more of a 2C than a 1C. No Power, Clarke or any other blueliner for me. If they miss out on Beniers, than give me Eklund or one of the other highly ranked forwards.

My point is if they were so enamored with Allen, they were risking that he would be taken in the first few picks. That is where they were “lucky”....that he lasted until the 7th pick.

Not that he is going anywhere, but I’d love JG Pageau on the Sabres, and I’d kill for a 4th line like Clutterbuck, Martin and Cizikas.
