Greenway has been a good pickup. He's exceeded my expectations. Well, I was expecting little but maybe I should reconsider my trust in the team's ability to judge talent.

And he should be better next year when 100% healthy.  If you look at his stats before this year and this year's = 2 different players.  If okposo retires, he'll be a fine replacement

Sabres have to win 5 and two of the three teams we are chasing have to lose 2 games out of 4.

We have 5 games left but NYI, PIT and FLA only have 3 games left each.

5-0 gets us to 93 points (heavy ask but just for fun)

2-1 gets PIT to 92 points

1-1-1 gets NYI and FL to 92 points

So we need to win all 5 while we need PIT to lose 1 in regulation and we need either NYI or FL to not win 2 out of 3

  3. Bad puck luck but sometimes you make your own puck luck.  We were plain putrid in our zone, the play by boosh was one of the worst decisions I've ever seen (especially up2 mid way through the 3rd).  btw, power is out best overall dman and no offense to Dahlin, but he's not all that close right now.

They can only loan him to Europe if Winnipeg agrees to it.  If they'd agree to that, they'd agree to letting him play in Ra-cha-cha IMHO.  (And can't see them agreeing to either.)

I don't think so.  The quebec league (or whatever he plays in) has an agreement with the AHL where he can't go play there as a 19 year old.  The have no such agreement with Europe.

I have to say you are not even giving your argument enough merit.  When Anderson and Okposo leave the team next year, they will be even younger.

All the lamenting today is unfounded.  One or two younger guys are primed to become part of this team.  Need a bottom 6 F puck digger vet with playoff experience and another 3rd pairing D vet who is the same.  After that, a decision on Levi (let's see what he does in the next 6 of 7 games) and who is the guy he may pair with (maybe not even on the team right now) and next season is ready to roll.

And two of the guys pulling up the Sabres age won't be hear next year:  Anderson (41) and Okposos, however old he is. They're being replaced by a 21 year old goalie, and two 19 year old forwards (Kulich and Savoie)

Very disappointed in the loss, but am really excited to see this team next year. The kids will be 1 year older and at some point (maybe day 1) Levi will be keeping them in every game he starts.

Let Okposo go back home to Minnesota and trade Olofsson for what they can get.  Opens up a slot for Savoie and a real 4C.  Leave Jost as the 13F.  Sign Johnson to be depth (likely in Ra-cha-cha next year), and bring in a real 4D bumping Stillman to the 7th slot and Clague to 8.  Bryson can be the 10 behind Johnson.

Bring in whoever is the best goalie you can get on a 2 year deal and run with the 2 best goalies of the 4.  Trade one of UPL or Comrie and try to slide the other into Ra-cha-cha unless he beats out both Levi and the new guy.

This team as constructed will be in the playoffs.  Make these tweaks and it could really do some damage.

Should be bummed right now.  But am so excited for the future.  And, if Pittsburgh and the Aisles will continue to stink it up, who knows, maybe they can sneak in this year afterall.  Wouldn't have any money on it.  But until they're eliminated won't give up hope.

You seem to be confusing the AHL rules and the NHL rules.  The only thing keeping Levi out of the playoffs this season is the likely inability of the Sabres to get past 2 of the 3 teams ahead of them.

Correct - he signed an NHL contract so is ineligible for rh AHL playoffs.  He could play in the NHL playoffs, but, that chance is likely gone.

Just for comparison, Bedard is 18.5 months younger than Savoie.

That said, Savoie isn't going back to juniors impo. No point really.

Agreed, only 2 options for Savoie:

    1. Sabres

    2. Loan him to Europe

I think neither him nor Levi will ever see Rochester (Savoie obviously can;t next yera anyway)
