Joe D on WGR this morning said that Briere wants 2 first-round picks for Carter Hart.
(And mods can we pin this thread?)
Yep - that was reported a while ago. Nice goalie, nice upside, nice age, nice isn't (2) 1st round picks.

At some point today I'll go find the guy and ask, buy I believe the implication was that that was the offer, not the starting point of negotiations.
Dozens of offers are made for every trade. Don't read too much into it.

And just to be clear. I’m very optimistic for the future but at some point KA has to make that move and I think he has had the chance. They have a crazy amount of prospects and I know they won’t all pan out but they really only need two or three to solidify this roster for three to four years.
Additionally, this is probably the last year where they have valued cap space over teams they are contending with and it seems they won’t be taking advantage of that either.
That move would be to:
1. Trade for Hart & Konectny (would be $$), or
2. Sign Kane, Tatar or Tarasenko

I’m shaky on the AHL eligibility rules. Will Benson be able to play on the Amerks after this coming season?
No, just like Savoie this year, it would have to be the Sabres or back to his junior team

Orlov would be the crazy move
Graves would be the great move
Mayfield would be the solid
move
Andersen would be he ideal 2 year pickup. I wonder if they plan to bring another goalie in though.
How about Fleury in the same role Anderson held the last 2 years? He still has some game left and there's no better leader in the NHL

What would be the trade compensation thihg? 6.5m per year seems fair enough but would Oloffson, Joker and a second get him? Do they need an Oloffson type?

Kind of like last year....he tried to move up the 3rd 1st rounder to take Kulich but was unsuccessful. Fortunately he was still there when they picked anyway. This does make me wonder though if GMKA needs to up his game though to get what he wants. If you want something bad enough, you have to be willing to pay enough to get it.
Then apparently every GM needs to up their game - 0 trades tonight. Any other comments?

I've been a fan since '73 to, and am very excited with our team. We're making the playoffs this year. No idea what the "joke" is.
Me too - I started going to games in 73 as a 4 year old. This is the guy I wanted all along, but thought there was only about a 30% chance he dropped to 13.

Seems Levy's best friend is justin hryckowian, who's an undrafted free agent playing at North Eastern. Future Buffalo signing? Stats aren't bad - team captain and a little over a point per game in his Sophomore year

here’s a scenario I concocted
Well thought out. My comments
1. I honestly think I know the league well, but had no clue who Noel Acciari is?? I looked him up and don't know what he would add?
2. I think Victor goes for more than a conditional 2nd - can we flip him for a RHD?
3. I don't think Joker gets a 2nd and a 4th - I would think only a 3rd
4. Martinez - we can do better at D, and he's a LHD anyway
5. DeMelo is interesting. Is he a 3/4 or a 5/6 though?

would love to get Saros or Hellebuyck but there's no way in the world I would include Levi in a trade for him. I put Levi in the same untradeable bucket as Dahlin, Power, Cozens, Tage and Tuck.

I would easy trade 13, UPL and Östlund/Rosen for Saros
Agreed and I don't think we'd be shortchanging Nashville. If Adams is series about making the playoffs, he needs to make a move like this; or one for Hellebuyck

If Levi is the better goalie than Comrie id much rather him get the secondary starts, if possible. I feel like 30 NHL games would be better for development than 50 in the AHL anyways, he could learn from Saros, learn the NHL environment and his teammates, and it’s not like he’s used to a huge workload right now, anyways, in terms of games played per season. Saros played a whopping 64 and 67 games the last two seasons, but his numbers were just fine when he played 36 and 40 the two seasons before that; in fact his high watermark sv% was the 36 game, .927. Don’t see a problem with cutting it back to 45-50 games from him, personally
Yep - it would be a good problem to have to figure out.

#13, UPL, Östlund/Rosen would be where I would go.
Saros is that good and sets them up for two very good playoff runs.
Yep - I think this is a fair deal for both teams. if it happened, I wonder if it would change Adam's plan for Levi? Maybe let Comrie back up Saros and give Levi 55 games in Rochester??

I'd be shocked if that's all it took.
Yep - I agree Saros would be perfect for the Sabres and Levi. 60%/40% game split for the two. But, I'm thinking the cost would be more like #13, UPL and Krebs or Östlund or maybe even Quinn. I'd do it if quinn wasn;t part of the deal (nor Kulich or Savoie or Peterka of course)

I would like details on what happened with Johnson not signing. The boxed answer will be, "the player has a choice."

Trading the pick for veteran D makes the most sense. Wonder how much it would cost to move up from 13 to grab Reinbacher?
Maybe nothing, he might be available at 13

They have 1/2 of the goaltending set for next year. They still need to pair Levi with somebody that gives the team a chance to win any given night. Sign Varlamov and then fix the D.
Wouldn't Varlamov want to sing somewhere where he's the clear cut starter? Levi, I think we all can agree is all clear cut starter. Acquiring 1 or 2 big upgrades at D is more important than a backup goalie.

This team is more than a Ryan Johnson away. The fact that Bryson even saw the ice tonight is unforgivable.
Bryson isn't the problem - he can easily be relegated to a 8/9 roll. Problem is Jokiharu playing top 4 minutes. He singlehandedly lost us the game tonight and I'm not exaggerating. If you want a refresher watch goals against 1, 2 and 4.
Another 3/4 D is needed above everything else. It could be argued the 2nd biggest need is another 3/4/5 dman

Not that it matters but now Anderson can probably have his going away party:
OTT: Anderson
CLB: Levi or UPL

Given how badly guys like Bryson and Joki are playing tonight.....Johnson could not be possibly any worse than some guys already dressing tonight.
Correct - he can't be worse. Jokiharu played the worst game I've seen any of our D play this year and that says a lot. He absolutely sabotaged this game, directly responsible for goal 1, 2 and 4

Turn out the lights, the party's over. Thanks for the run Sabres, it's been a lot of fun for a change.
Shocking - Joker on the ice again and out of position. what an abortion of a performance in a must win game by Jokiharu

Yep - Joker, Oloff, UPL and a 2024 2nd for Gibson (Net money opened in cap 1.69 million
Sign Tarasenko (I'd take Tatar too for $4.5 million per) for 2 years $12m
Beginning cap:
5.88 million
Gibson cap savings: +1.69 million = 7.57 million
Tarasenko cost: -6 million = 1.57 million left
roster is at 23
