Not a big fan of Luukonen. He's young but I don't like his rebound control and I don't like all the goals he lets in. I think we can swap out three defensemen too, (Joki, Lubyushkin and Bryson) and several forwards (Okposo, Girgs, Casey and Olof). In addition, Quinn/Peterka are not ready yet.

lets pray Levi is the real thing and progresses quicker than normal.  I don't think UPL is the Lt answer - too many weak gols, especially glove side.

I get it's a young team and maybe not playoff ready, but 2 no shows at home the last 2 games is unacceptable

I don't need to see Okposo nor Girgenson resigned. Nice guys, but are part of the bad past and really are replacement level players at this point. Move on

    Not a bad period

worst period I've seen in years.  You have a sellout home crowd, an opposition goalie basically sh*tting all over himself ready to give up 10 goals and you counter this by getting no shots on goal, forgetting how to play defense and your goalie giving up 1-2 bad goals.  Compound this by having every team near us i nthe playoff race winnign every game.  Just very disa[pointing and inexcuseable.

    What is this officiating?

I'm in favor of officiating.  Phantom call on Krebs, missed calls on the Cozen trip and a lot of holds by Cgy then they call a ticky tack call on Okposo.  Refs are consistently garbage in the NHL

Did Lybushkin really get injured hitting someone? Oof.

Did he hurt himself on the hit or when the shot from the point went off of him??  Couldn't tell

They might need to have him on suicide watch tonight after getting back to Cincy.  He's still inconsolable on their bench 10 minutes later.

not sure that was #58 on the bench, though i could be wrong.  Looked like his number ended in a 9?? hard to tell

I’ll care about regular SV% more because every shot matters even though some are more dangerous than others.

UPL is definitely an NHL level goalie but on an average scoring team I don’t think he would have a 13-5-1 record. Next year I expect he will be better.

i'm not a huge fan, and yes he'll get better.  But I'll say hes been responsible for our surge as much as anybody.  13-2 in last 15 with 3.06 GAA .909 SV %,  Still not elite (except for record), but his first few games really dragged his overall stats down

His regular SV% ranking is also in the 30s. Sub .900SV%. No doubt part of this can be tied to defense injuries or inexperience.

d0onpt care about save %, care about high scoring chance save %.  If he's facing twice as many high scoring chances a game than some goalies that's telling.  For instance, Comrie's game was relatively stress free the other night, until the last 5 minutes, because Buffalo had 80% of the game's high scoring chances in the first 55 minutes.  Peg had some in the last 5, changing it to 67% Buf/33% Peg

I'm optimistic on this one. I think if they clean up the penalties they can blow this game wide open.

Hope you're right but I think prob not against Fleury.  Despite scoring 6 vs him last game, he typically makes it hard to score.

I’d say GAA of your goalies matters. Not going to score four or five goals every game and those lower scoring games have as much impact as any other.

to a certain extent but I think there are better measures.  I think Marty Brodeur is one of the most overrated goalies ever for instance.  Great GAA, Great Save %, a ton of shutouts, also played in a defensive system that was historic for allowing so few scoring chances

ESPN has him 39th in the league with a 3.29. His actual GAA is 3.35. I don’t know what the minimum games played is but I’d guess he’s middle to slightly below middle of the pack.

What's his high chance save %, that's probably a better indicator.  Sabres are fun to watch, but they're also fun to play against as there not exactly the most defensive aware team
