Well the Avs are a very talented and powerful team that peaked at the right time and didn’t have to rely on brilliant goaltending but how many cups are won without great goaltending?   Not many.  Most teams don’t get past round 2 without great goaltending.

I prefer that Adams shore up the goaltending and help the young core win more games.

I also think Kuemper is superior to Ullmark.

Kuemper is an excellent goalie who was excellent in the regular season. Colorado only needed mediocre GT in the playoffs and that's what Kuemper was.  He was mediocre cuz he was playing through an injury

Sloppy D as Utica speeds down the wing and gets behind them. First shot stopped but lack of back check lets them score on rebound. Utica takes their first lead, 4-3 9 min left.

WHOMEVER #4 is on Rochester is, he is hideous.  Got burned on goal #4 and almost cause a 5th goal.  Slow and small is not a  good defenseman

  3. I watched Anson. it wasn't all that bad, though he wasn't really correct. He wasn't going to put the Islanders down, so is instead of speaking the truth (Islander are tired and really mailed in the game/rest of the season), he softened it by saying that the Islanders took the Sabres likely.  The play by play announcers were good, saying the ice was slanted in Buffalo's direction and multiple times praised Thompson and the way Skinner was getting under the skin of the islanders

    2) Rookie of the Year Samuelson

    3) Comeback Player of the Year Skinner

    4) Unsung Hero (player who doesn’t get enough credit) Okposo

    5) Top Forward Tage

    6) Team Norris Dahlin

    7) Team Vezina  Levi

Edit 8.) Most improved player. (I knew I was forgetting something).  Tage

So here is the plan.  The Bills trade down to later in the first and add a 2nd second.  They still use the late first on S Lewis Cine, UGA.  With the first 2nd rd pick they grab McDuffie, CB Wash (or whomever they deem as the best CB available at that slot).  With the 2nd 2nd rd pick the grab Quay Walker, LB, UGA.  In the 3rd they draft James Cook, RB, UGA and in the 4th OG Justin Shaffer, UGA.

Now that is a draft I can live with.

Trading down later in the 1st won't get you a 2nd - there are only 7 picks after the Bills in the 1st, it would probably net you a late 3rd.  you could probably get an early 2nd, an early 3rd and maybe a later pick for #25 - a team wanting a QB trading up.  In this scenario i draft:

best CB in the early 2nd

Best RB in the late 2nd (WIll Walker III be there)

    Best WR in early 3rd

    Best Olineman in late 3rd

Now, if a CB or WR falls to 25 that I'm not expecting to - WIlliams/Olave type, all trades off

    Welcome back.

I would say plural: goalies.  Assume Anderson is retiring, Tokarski is in the AHL, and neither Pekka-Lukkonen nor Subban is ready for the NHL until proven otherwise.

Addendum: even if Anderson does not retire, assume he's going to be hurt for part of the season due to his age.

Darcy Kuemper would be a spectacular add - I've begged for him for years. Now, I don't know why he would sign with the Sabres but we certainly have the cash to throw at him.  Career 139 wins, 92 losses , 2.46 GAA, 0.918 S%.  And this is while playing most of his career with ARI. Sign a decent backup, or if UPL's development isn't hurt as a backup, use him in that role

  7. UPL has really been quite bad this year for Rochester.  I know the D in front of him has struggled but, still, I have to think GMKA sees it as a step back from him.  Portillo has great size and god quickness for his size, but, I love Levi due to his elite quickness and instincts.  Lack of size can be minimized by reading the play well, being in the right spot and playing the correct angles

I was able to watch the tribute and then parts of each period.

Wow, were the Sabres gassed at the end.  I'm surprised by this; it's a young team.  But also wow, did they play hard.

    A very nice evening/night.

I disagree 100%. I watched the whole game and that's not what I saw.  Buffalo forechecked and backchecked the hell out NSH tonight and I thought had the better energy the entire game.  They almost scored about 10 times (including the 2 empty net misses) to go up 5-3.  They outshot NSH 35-25 and I haven't seen the stats but I bet they had twice as many high chance opportunities.

Slafkovsky isn’t a C or a RD, but I would be happy with him depending on how the board falls.

A lineup with Tuch, Thompson, Cozens, and Slafkovsky seems like it would be a handful.

Slafkovsky was the best player on the ice last night.  Bernier was really good too just missed way too many shots and ended up not making a difference.
