    They do.

Picked a bad time for us for them to string a few together.

One saving grace here is their schedule is tough. And I mean TOUGH. The opponents are hard but it’s more than that. They have a stretch as follows:

    Road - Home - Road - Home - *Road - Home - Road

*represents a back to back. Back to back with travel.

In comparison the Sabres, one time, have to come home for a single game, before heading back out on road

The Sabres also get the Caps twice at home in April.

Anchoring his own pair after they trade Power, because they won’t pay both Bryam and Power.

What is Power worth in trade?

I don’t agree they will trade Power. And I don’t agree they won’t pay Byram.

The second the Sabres drafted two defensemen first overall, the shell of the team was always going to look drastically different than the present NHL formula. Go ahead and throw out the league “budget” for the blue line. Buffalo is going to eclipse it. It was always going to be this way.

And because #1 overall forwards can come in and play immediately at age 18/19 (Bedard, Lafreniere, Hughes, Matthews, McDavid), these teams get good production while they’re on cheap ELCs. You don’t get that with defensemen. Defensemen aren’t fully formed until age 22/23 or so. The budget for the back-end in Buffalo will command more capital.
Building a team with two pinnacle #1 overall D has never been done before that I can recall.

Personally, I’ve come to embrace the concept of spending on the blue line. Bo is a key piece and I want him here long term.…conventional budget bedamned.  ESPECIALLY with how many forward prospects this franchise has. Hopefully the Sabres can massage production out of ELCs for a while at forward.

Anyone interested in a Jagr bobble head? I found 18,000 of them in my backyard. Must have fallen off a truck.

I think you meant this for either the things that are awesome thread or complaint Thursdays thread. Why not both?!

  4. I’m in the minority, but the league is telling us that this basic principal is allowed these days. Any team who wants to pay the bucks can do it so I’m fine with it.  Also, no one is arguing Mark Stone’s injury isn’t legitimate.

I know the Sabres got jobbed a long time ago during the Tim Connolly era, but times have changed.

I was born and raised in Rochester NY for 25 years but can’t watch any of their games since I moved away. Describe their season in 1 word to me. Thanks

    Uneven.

The team went to the conference finals last year (lost to the eventual cup winners) and brought back nearly every player to run it back.  And that included a goalie pickup which presumably bolstered the crease.  But it hasn’t translated to more wins.

Top to bottom, the division is very competitive.

I am more bullish on this team than others in the thread.  They should be a playoff team again and if Levi gets hot….lets go!

kevin oklobzija (the Amerks beat reporter for my entire adult life) posts his articles on a local site named https://pickinsplinters.com. It’s free and he’s great.

I'm cool. If I'm tense, it's because I hate this ***** day and have for over a decade. I don't believe that they are trying to win. I think Pegula sucks and I don't believe that he gives a ***** about the fans and is using the team as some sort of rich douche hobby for himself.

And if it's true that he doesn't like to be embarrassed, um,... too late.

Terry and his team are an embarrassment.

    This sucks.

Schoop & Bulldog opened their show today to talk about how much they hate trade deadline day. And they riffed about how it is always such a letdown with years of 1) being sellers, and 2) not getting a real prize. Sure there were pickups (Zubrus, Boyes, Dominic Moore), but it was never a big fish and always deflating. That resonated with me. This sucks.

I have to wonder if Reinhart wasn't being sarcastic and taking a sly shot at the team and Harrington missed it.

There was a behind blue and gold YouTube where Reino called Kevyn after the trade to thank him for how his situation was handled.  Reino didn’t have to do that, but he did.  The sentiments were genuine.

A Super Bowl is more lusted after by TP.  It kind of makes sense, I suppose.

What makes you say that? Is it his recency bias because the Bills hit on Josh Allen and they’re very good? Or because the Bills are the shinier and newer toy?

Pegula gets a ton of shade thrown his way in the Sabrehood and I’m not going to devolve into what is fair and what isn’t. But maybe you’re thinking it’s because he gets so much Sabres related hate he cares less today?

    Tell me everything…

The post where I explained what I meant, presumably?

For those who like you incorrectly confuse “higher in scoring” with “most points”.

You and I also differ on that opinion. But that’s cool. To me Tage was on another level last year.

Not to derail the interesting conversation happening in here, but there is some Sweedish dude on the left hand coast of Canada that maybe would / should be a trade target, if in fact he is on the market.

For sure.  I’ll get back on track. I just don’t want TNT in the deal.
