The Leafs v Lightning series is the most interesting game five for me. The betting market is favoring Toronto (I don’t bet on sports), but I have a hard time agreeing with that. Hard to bet against Vasilevskiy.

I guess that Stanley Cup shine wears off pretty quick with players. Tough business. No one could beat the Bolts the last two years, and as mentioned…tough circumstances this year. While I can appreciate the playoffs or bust mentality of a team, who else is better for the job? The hire will be pretty interesting. Unless there’s a scandal brewing, this doesn’t appear to make a lot of sense.

Doesn’t the city own the building? I have to imagine it would be their obligation.

You should have seen my condition when I tried to write that out. I needed ibuprofen this morning. I don’t hate five goal games. I love them. That is all.

Am I the only one who hates five goal games? Gimme all the scoring chances and less clutching/grabbing/scrums.

I could get behind something like this. But I don’t know if Toews has anything left. He scored 12G, 25A for 37 points in 71 games, makes 10.5M next year, and has a no move clause.

If the Sabres are looking to improve via trade and utilize their cap flexibility, I would think they would go shopping on teams that are resigned to a rebuild, but behind the Sabres timeline. Teams like Chicago, Phili, Montreal. Teams find a way in and out of cap jail pretty easily.

I’m the same. I actually cancelled my Athletic membership because I wasn’t finding his Sabres coverage to be worth anything. I got game logs, a mailbag, and one deep-dive once a month that was actually worth reading. Seems like a nice guy and I would wish him well if I saw him. But we’re onto Cincinnati.

Well I’m not sure that’s a perfect comp. The Athletic seems to go after seasoned newspaper reporter types.
