It’s not about cap space; it’s about “culture”. Doubtful KA wants to tell Mitts he’s offering half of what he gave Cozens. I don’t care how much they get along, that would sting.

I think he was painted into a corner with the Cozens contract since Mitts outplayed him last year.

Any trade to make us better would likely need to include one of our current top 6 and I’m guessing KA is reluctant. Byram also might attract someone in a package. Prospects alone likely won’t get it done unless it’s a team in a tear down.

I’m becoming convinced there’s not much of a market for picks and non NHL ready prospects. Vegas and Florida won cups without using draft picks.
