  1. https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/pittsburgh-penguins/latest-news/pittsburgh-penguins-ready-trade-every-player speaking of blowing it up…
  2. I agree 100% and I think the poor play is driven by fear. Fear of making mistakes and it gets self fulfilling to the point you get second guessing everything you do.
  3. Years ago I worked for someone who said something that sticks with me today. He said “no one comes to work with the thought that “boy I hope I can do a lousy job today””. So what’s wrong? If they knew and had the ability they’d fix it, right? While he was here Eichel said we needed more experience and more toughness. We still need that.
  4. The players were reacting to the Fire Donnie chants, not the boos. I’m okay with that and if it had stayed in the locker room we’d likely never know. Whether you like him or not, the Fire Donnie chants are in bad taste and I’m sure it meant a lot to him that the players thought that was over the line.
  5. Further to my previous post here are some things I’d ask. 1. Probability of Tage, Jeff, Alex, and Dylan repeating their scoring? Impact if they don’t? 2. Probability of Devon leading our goalies to NHL average or better performance? 3. Probability of EJ and Conner raising our D to league average or better? 4. Probability of key players (name them) playing 70+ games. 5. Probability of Improvement in D offsetting insignificant drop off in O. 6. Probability of physical teams taking advantage of our young team. 7. Lastly, probability of Mr Peabody having another glass of Cab vs impact of waking up tomorrow without a headache. (hint: high probability high impact). TBH, number 6 was my biggest worry going in and it hasn’t been as bad as I thought (but still not good).
  6. Going back to my pre-retirement days Thorny’s post got me thinking had we done an impact probability matrix pre-season maybe the results to date wouldn’t be so shocking?
  7. I often wonder if Donnie would just love to throw KA under the bus. These guys should play harder with no coach on the bench but for the sheer competitiveness of a team sport.
  8. I was ambivalent about R Johnson signing versus the draft pick we’d get if he didn’t. I was very wrong. He looks like a vet out there and a damn good one at that.
  9. Well I am 70 yrs old so my memory may not be the best! However I remember Sam being more like Benson and Skinner as far as being around the net. Good stick and in the area, but not a chaos creator or a solid screen.
  10. I remember Samson to be a lot like you described Tuch. Drive byes but not standing their ground hence putting Risto in front on ppps. Nothing against Sam put he didn’t have the strength or bulk to hold his own.
  11. As the center goes, so goes Skinner. When Jack (was) and Tage (is) a threat, so is Skinner. His D and checking game took major steps forward but have regressed since that “top” line has taken giant steps backward. With Ralph I think he was judge-mental of the coaching - no idea other than discouragement what’s going on the last month or so.
  12. I get radio blackouts for Sabre games so I stream the opposing team when I’m in my truck. You might enjoy that. Most opposing teams I’ve found to be quite objective and insightful.
  13. Couple of porterhouses in the sous vide, can we skip the 3rd and go to a shootout?
  14. Loved Ally in Short Circuit!
  15. At this point my major rooting interest is for UPL. More so than the game itself
  16. Consistently getting beat to the puck
  17. Sometime awhile back when SU’s FB offense had gone stale a fan drew up a play on a pizza box and held it up to the OC’s coaching box. Might need the same for our PP
  18. Had a 2.5 hour drive from Syr to Buf and was listening to NHL on XM discussing the Columbus GM change. My wife asked me what happened to the Sabres and wish I had your post then. Completely nailed it.
  19. Panthers have slowed down their hits. Tired from last night or no need?
  20. Hope they watch a lot of tape of Lundell’s screen.
  21. Verhaeghe had his own zip code out there
  22. I don’t think we have the physical strength to go and STAY in front of the net against many teams. Meaning we can’t sustain chaos in front of the goalie. Watching the Blues game their D men were easily able to clear Sabres from the front.
