Overall talent and coaching has always been the problem and I am hoping that they have figured that out with Granato and all the young pieces and picks coming into the lineup.

Nobody needs to dump on Eichel. He was a world class talent but it didn’t work here. A lot of it was out of his control but I think behind closed doors he had a hand in this mess too. Let him move on. The NHL is a better place with a healthy Eichel playing. I like the return and I like the way this team is being built.

I will give Adams credit. The guy was hired with no experience and given an absolutely brutal situation to navigate and I think he has come out the other side of the heavy lifting pretty well. He identified the character issues in the dressing room, sold the Pegulas on a tear down and has done it right. He didn’t think he knew better then everyone else and has surrounded himself with people in the front office who are well thought of. He is acquiring multiple picks/young pieces and there seems to be an identity forming:speed and character. There is a long way to go but this is what a proper rebuild looks like.

The 2nd is nice. I think the past couple drafts are really shaping up nicely and to have 3 1sts this year and a couple 2nds in 2023 is nice for this front office.

Krebs is good buddies with Cozens. They have played a lot together for Canada. He also played with Levi and Quinn on Team Canada last year. One story I like about Krebs is that he played for an awful Kooteny Ice team a couple years ago. He was basically all the skill they had. They said he never complained once, just showed up and worked his butt off every game. He lead the team in scoring by a ton and was still -50 but never let his frustration show. I have no doubt he will embrace Buffalo. His style fits in perfectly with Granato’s. Tuch is from Syracuse, I doubt he will be bummed about Buffalo.

Krebs is a high character kid. Always wearing a letter, usually the captaincy. High end wheels and extremely high smarts/ hockey sense. If he reaches his potential I would say a fast skating Sam Reinhart.

The question for me is how is Krebs used? I would like to see him at centre with Cozens shifted to his RW. Play Tuch with Mitts when he is back in the new year. Skinner Mitts Tuch Asplund Tage Olofsson Vinnie Krebs Cozens Girgs Eakin Okposo

So how are the Sabres cap compliant? Is there another deal? I like this trade, it is more then fair for the circumstances. Tuch and Krebs will add a lot and 3 1st round picks this season.

Why though? An Eichel trade will not fix the team immediately. This is a long term trade. Young players/prospects and picks will take time to bear fruit. Eichel can’t play anyways right now. Everyone had the Sabres pegged for last OA. They won’t be. I don’t see pressure on Adams to get a deal done based on record.

I think he will be a good one. Lundell will be a good one, Jarvis will be a good one, Perfetti should be a good one and Rossi probably if his health setback didn’t effect him too much. There were a lot of good options in that draft. It will be a hell of a draft for Buffalo if both Quinn and JJ continue to improve and develop.

Yes please. If Habs are #2 then they aren’t expecting Price back. Portzline is plugged in with the Jackets. Can someone with an Athletic subscription tell us if Portzline mentions Buffalo or if it is just a guess from the twitter guy.
