I mean Rochester is in need of a very good vet offensive centre. There are still probably options out there. If they sign one then I think they will be in decent shape. The D corps is improved. UPL and Subban should be an upgrade in net if UPL is healthy and takes a step. The young kids won’t be at Quinn and JJ’s level but hopefully they grow and develop. People hate him but if Bjork is sent down he will be an offensive producer in the AHL.

I wonder why a reporter would put this out now. Did the Sabres tell him in order to kill the rumour for good or were there behind the scenes negotiations going on.

According to him Buffalo’s prospect pool is only 7th but it gets way better. According to him the Sabres goalie prospect pool ranks 25th. Yes there are 24 teams with better goalie prospect pools then Levi, UPL, Portillo and Leinonen. Apparently the greatest wave of goaltending in the history of the NHL must be coming.😳🤪🤣

The Sabres just got rid of a $10 million Me First gashole who ruined the culture. There is no way they are bringing another one in. However if a Tkachuk trade somewhere else leads to a Calgary rebuild then Markstrom or Mangiapane would be interesting to look at.

The offer sheet doesn’t make a ton of sense though because then Calgary could match it. Unless it was like a 1 year $15 million type deal just to call Calgary’s bluff. I wonder what Markstrom is thinking about all this?

The long time rumour is that he wants to go back home to St. Louis. No team is giving up any assets for him til they know he will sign a long term extension. And if he only wants to go to St. Louis then it is a Hall/Boston situation.

The big difference is the organization. The Sabres under Murray were a disaster. A lack of communication throughout the organization that bled to the development staff. Now the organization looks unified and all pulling in the same direction. The prospects have been making great strides. Listen to Levi talk about Kotyk. There are no guarantees in life but if I had to bet then I would put money on this group forming a core that leads to years of playoff runs. Time will tell but the organization is in much better shape then the other times they have had prospect pools near the top of the league.

This is where I am at. People can argue that other teams have a couple prospects that they might rank higher than the Sabres top prospects but for sure depth of quality prospects with NHL potential no one holds a candle to Buffalo.

The Czechia Men’s League isn’t very strong. It’s not like playing in the KHL or SHL or Liiga. The AHL is very tough on 18 year olds. Girgs development was derailed by playing in the AHL as an 18 year old. They might decide that the AHL is the best option for him but the Q would be an easier transition and there is no problem dominating for development. Build up his confidence. He is an interesting case. Every case is different and maybe he is ready for the AHL.

My only disappointment is that Savoie didn’t get to participate. I think some fans don’t realize just what an exciting player he is. I think one person listed 13 prospects that weren’t in the tournament. You could have made a fifth team that could have won it with Savoie, Hugelen, Nadeau, Neuchev, Karlsson, Kisakov, Poltapov, Novikov, Leinonen, Cederqvist, Sardinin, Pekar etc. The depth is very impressive. There are a few teams whose total prospect pools aren’t as strong as the group that didn’t participate in the tournament today.

There is a chance all three 1sts end up hitting for this team in a few years which would be massive. Anytime a team has three first or even two firsts it usually turns out that one doesn’t hit. There is a real chance here though that all three could but we obviously don’t know the future. Too bad Savoie couldn’t show the fans his stuff this week but both Östlund and Kulich were tremendous. Östlund has everything you want from a top centre but the size. They need to figure how to get more weight on him. Kulich has that JJ warrior spirit to his game and his shot is already NHL level. He just needs reps hopefully in the Q this season.

On another board they are hearing that Adams might move up to President with Kim’s medical situation and Ventura and Karmanos taking over the GM role. Saying it is being discussed. Who knows but it would make sense.

Dangle can be put in the most annoying group but he is not delusional. He acknowledges how infuriating the team and management is.
