  1. I don't see what goes on in the locker room and I don't hear what gets said on the bench during games. That said, I can't make any judgments as to who is a good leader who can motivate his teammates and who can influence coaches and referees. That is what a captain is. I've never understood the notion that the player who scores the most or plays the best should be the captain. You can be a great player at age 18 (or 19 or 20...), but until you get some experience and wisdom, I don't think you can be a great captain.
  2. It could just be my imagination, but it seems to me like our draft number was usually later than what our record compared to other teams would indicate. Am I remembering incorrectly? If we did not have the lottery, and went solely on record, would we have drafted earlier?
  3. How might recent drafts been different if the Sabres hadn't been historically bad at the lottery? Seems like we get jobbed every year. If we had the opportunity to draft one or two slots higher each year, would that have made any difference?
  4. I don't think there is enough electricity to shock all the fans needed. Oh, wait. Who did you have in mind for this? Um, never mind....
  5. What is it about the Sabres that the Pegulas are doing so wrong, but doing so right with the Bills? I can't figure that out. My only thought is that they (eventually) hit on the right coach and GM with the Bills, but have yet to do so with the Sabres. I can only hope that if KA and RK are not the right people, they find them soon. The Sabres will not improve until we hit on those two positions.
  6. I completely understand how some people would absolutely love Citizen Kane. There are people who are much more into the production and artfulness of movies than I am. Everyone has their own reasons for liking or disliking particular movies (or anything else, for that matter!) As a non-student of film making, I pay less attention to how it is made. For me, I just want a movie that holds my attention due to the plot, acting, and writing something I can relate to. I am a simple man who likes a bit of emotional escapism. Certainly, different eras have different ways of doing this. As an example, I enjoy watching reruns of Adam-12. The acting in 1960's television shows was dreadful, but the show somehow still compels me to watch.
  7. I agree. Intentional ignorance is not a valid opinion (But, hey, that is only my opinion! 😀) When people downplay facts because it doesn't fit their own personal narrative, that is a dangerous situation. Given that, I don't know what the facts are regarding how many people can be in an indoor arena safely: in the seats for 3 hours, in line for the restroom, at the concessions stands, etc. This seems different than passing someone briefly in an aisle at Walmart.
  8. Wow! Three of my all time favorites....and the only two movies of the AFI's Top 100 that I could not stomach to watch to the end! I just don't know what to say... 😱
  9. I get that it was very symbolic and that it may have been very avant-gard for its time. I understand that people can really appreciate that type of movie. I guess I am just big into artsy-type movies. Give me good acting and good writing - that's all I need.
  10. Am I the only one who thinks Citizen Kane was a stupid movie? Just dumb. "Oh, my life is so bad because I miss my childhood sled!" Ugh...
  11. Tombstone Monty Python and the Holy Grail Sneakers Clue Apollo 13 Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Love the Bomb To Kill a Mockingbird Young Frankenstein and others that have already been mentioned
  12. The Sabres have to do the contact tracing to see who had close contact and who did not.
