  1. I look at it like, a draft board is constructed based on where you value them. If they have a first round grade on this kid, then they value moving up to secure him rather than just selecting the next highest player on their board. It makes sense if you especially value him significantly more than the next 5 guys on your board.
  2. Oh I meant rossi. But who knows. They're 19 year old kids
  3. I don't know any of these kids. I did think it was nice to hear that in the 6 month layoff this kid focused on strength, endurance, and skating.
  4. The misleading part in that d-1 number is where quinn played when he was like 16. The unconventional development path kinda makes it hard to evaluate with those conventional projection metrics. They're just about the same age, but quinn has about 2 years of like - serious junior hockey development. I probably would've taken Rossi too, but I'm not going to lose my mind here. I think the team has been soft has hell for years, and adding another player who likely isn't going to play with a lot of jam isn't going to help our cause here. Is the goal to get to the playoffs this year? Or to get there and actually do something?
  5. Experts thought Nylander was a better prospect than sergachev, McAvoy, and chychrun. They have made mistakes before. I just can't take another Nylander or mittelstadt. This kid has good production in ohl, and seems to be a hard worker. Hopefully he has the humility and leadership qualities to succeed. Please be SOMETHING
  6. Limited space to fit that hit under the cap, and limited goalie spots. I think they're either buying him out, or waiting til the goalie musical chairs game ends and seeing who's left wanting an overpriced goalie.
  7. Depending on the meaning of that lower cost mandate, it may be a higher cap hit player who has lower salary requirements.
  8. The Lightning will look a lot different in the near future. Point will get a 4-5 million dollar raise after next year. Cirelli gets a big bump. Sergachev will want a payday too. They project 5.3 mil in cap space and don't have cirelli or sergachev under contract, and they have 3 defensemen currently. The only players without NTC/NMC are Hedman (yeah right), Point (keep dreaming), and Killorn (4.5 million on a M-NTC). So the most you can move out of there is about 4.5 getting them to about 10. Is that enough to sign cirelli and sergachev? Maybe? Doesn't fill out the rest of the roster though. It's also hard to ask the guys who have been underpaid on your team for the last couple years to be the ones to take paycuts. I think offer sheets are also possible, that or both could be traded.
  9. Probably because he was a healthy scratch.
  10. The difference between good and great in the playoffs is usually a hot goalie, and some secondary scoring.
  11. He brought in 2 dmen in trades... didnt move any out. Who's fault was that?
  12. A lot of losing, and injuries/rehab. Many players would just call it quits, its probably rather depressing and lonely. Then when you come back you're immediately trade bait. I don't blame buffalo either, he didn't do a thing when he was here other than cost a lot and be injured.
  13. My friend used to call weber "not butler".
  14. Right - we desperately lacked a cohesive 2nd scoring line. There wasn't even a 2nd center capable of taking offensive zone draws at a decent clip, let alone also providing some scoring. Teams could use a shutdown line on eichel, and then almost every team was able to deploy whomever they wanted against our 2nd and 3rd lines.
  15. Third line is where a playoff team makes their bones. Either a shutdown line that can chip in some scoring - or a young line that flies.
  16. Cheap and somehow his salary is less... this trade legit makes no sense. I truly don't understand.
  17. even kahun wasn't a bad move. Dumped rodrigues and sheary and got back a player with term who may be better than either.
  18. I tend to agree. He'd need to light it up at the AHL level to move ahead of that timeline. Then again, carter hart has been pretty solid at 21 so who the hell knows anymore.
  19. yep - and for that reason I'm open to a reinhart trade. When i say open i mean.. I'd be willing to move him for a more cost controlled player and maybe a prospect. Fit is important since depending on free agency - this player would ideally slot with eichel. I also mean - don't just trade him because we can't afford him. We can. Depends on the offer.
  20. Everyone wanted to sign him at the time. It was taboo for me to say - I don't want a ton of term on this deal since he's 27. The contract won't age well. What i didnt think was that he was going to just crater in year 1.
  21. Never seems to be in the right place, and thinks he can outskate everyone... which he can't. He needs a lot of work - and probably a full year in AHL.
  22. Mitts in rochester - for the most part i approve. Only issue might be that... i think there's 2 PK forwards listed there in asplund and i guess lazar. So it likely falls to cozens and...? i'm not sure. Our PK was really bad a year ago, and a lot of that is the D sure, but there wasn't exactly a strong group of forwards killing penalties either.
  23. Plenty of 18-19 year olds have had excellent seasons (https://www.quanthockey.com/nhl/player-age/18-year-old-nhl-forwards.html). It's an if hes ready type of thing - it isn't an end all be all. If he looks good it shouldn't be out of the question.
  24. Right - at this point can we salvage him? If his stocks at an all time low how much value does he have? If were moving Risto/Montour + a prospect - is he more valuable than a Ruotsalainen or Johnson?
  25. Like there was a progression in his high school stats from sophomore to senior year - but its not as if he was that much more dominant than he was as a sophomore. It really is just the tournaments where his stats look pretty great. But as much as its a jump in competition, its also a jump in improved linemates etc.
