Headline Predictions for the Buffalo Sabres 2021-2022 Season
Marvin replied to SHAAAUGHT!!!'s topic in The Aud Club
Anyone else think that the Sabres expect UPL to rise and take the goaltending job? It is one theory which fits the facts. -

The key will be, "are the mistakes of commission and not omission". They will forgive "try too hard" mistakes and mistakes of inexperience. Mistakes of laziness or lack of discipline? No way. -
ONLY? So neutral until anything actually happens is not an option?

My brain keeps yelling at me that if we put Skinner-Girgensons-Okposo out there regularly that they will lead by example and surprise us with their productivity.
-
My call on Kyle Okposo is complex; bottom 6 by offencive function but top 6 by ice time. He, Zemgus, and whoever is their linemate will be leaned upon to take some tough minutes, particularly on the road.

Messy divorces where both sides thinking they are completely right tend to drag out like this. -
Anyone else remember kids' Sammy Sabre t-shirts?
-
I hope so. I liked him a lot.

Part of me wonders if excelling in the pre-season would be enough to get someone to pony up an acceptable return.

This criticism is important. He actually has a Cup ring, as Robin Lehner pointed out. What he said matters more because he implied they needed to grow up a bit. ROR clearly did. The jury has no information on the others.

Sabres Announce Prospects Challenge September 17-19
Marvin replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
1. Granato emphasised fitness was obvious. If, for some reason, you watched highlights from last season again, you would see that the team wore down as the game went on. Their late scores came from the opposition sitting back. 2. The passing after Granato took over was far more precise than it was before. That was because he emphasised it more than it had been in aeons. That is the main reason the Sabres looked like a real NHL team at the end of last season. Let us hope it carries over. -
I think he should get 10-15 or so minutes in that role to start. The idea is to give Dahlin cover for most of his ice time. I am hoping for chemistry that helps both players. I could be wrong.

I was Tim Horton, J.C. Tremblay, John Marks, and other intelligent defencive defencemen. All the other D were trying to be Bobby Orr; I was the guy back on extra-man rushes. I can count on one hand how many times I was caught up-ice from ages 6-14. (22-28 game seasons.)
-
He was a massively under-rated signing in 2005 for Buffalo. I remember my brothers and sisters calling me and being positively giddy about the Sabres getting him.
-
You had better. I am trying to do it by seance so that he thinks that he came up with the idea by himseld.
-
I think he is the kind of partner I would want for Dahlin and Jokiharu at even strength: boring, simple, and defencively responsible.
-
You and I have the same idea of what a "fantasy" league.
-
I can understand this sentiment. There was a lot to like about that team.
-
This is why I don't like the Dahlin-Jokiharu pairing for now. I would rather pair them both with a reliable, boring stay-at-home defencive defencemen until their judgement has matured.
