The surge to 9th continues unabated today. Watched Jersey last night. They are bereft of scoring. Should be evenly matched. So the Amerks, driving toward the playoffs in two different leagues keep hope alive.

I'm convinced Buffalo is going on a mini tear here. These kids playing are playing for their future. They are playing for future contracts and airplane rides versus bus rides.

The signing of Kolb convinces me that Buffalo will be drafting a QB. Two or less years of Kolb gives way to the next best hope for a real franchise QB. If you look up Kolb in the dictionary it says "stop gap".

I don't get all the worry about "falling out of the top 3". Buffalo is stocked with draft picks. If Buffalo wants in to the top three, they can surely buy their way in. If Pegula has showed us anything, he's not afraid to gamble with money and picks. Relax people, the season has only a few weeks left. Enjoy it while you can.

I was listening to Sirius and they were talking about how 16 of the Sens are from their draft picks. I forget the breakdown, but it was something like 6-1sts, 4-2nds, 1-3rds, 3-5ths, 2-6ths. Those numbers are admittedly wrong, but you get the point.

Friend told me that Buffalo signed Kolb for two years. I don't know how I could have missed that news. My other friend who is an Eagles fan just laughed. Hopefully Kolb can throw a 20 yard out.

I saw the play he got his concussion on. He took an elbow to the head in the crease. I didn't think it looked too bad, but the announcers were gushing over it. He left the game. I figure if that was all it took, his future in this game is not long lived.

Make no mistake, the Pens were much easier to play against without Crosby. The Pens batter you with the Crosby line and then pummel you with the Malkin line making matchups difficult. Crosby is the NHL assist leader. Not having him out there made a huge difference in faceoffs, zone time and defense. The guy competes all the time. The biggest difference in the game last night, imho, was getting the puck out of the zone once the Pens got in. Buffalo was also on the positive side of the penalty ledger too. Give credit to the Amerks though. They took it to them and played well. Miller made sure if this was his last game in Buffalo he was going out with a W. My guess is Pominville, Vanek and Miller are all Sabres tomorrow morning.
