He wasn’t sold to the fans but he did help improve the defense by shoring up the bottom 3 and the PK. Unfortunately, you could really see him slow down the past month. This will be his last shot. I thank him for even trying to help this group. Would love to pick his brain on how this team is run.

Slow starts are the norm for the Sabres. You play like you practice, and nothing has convinced me that the team culture is not unlike a country club.

I think the BN said Casey would take at least $6M and they can’t keep everyone for the reason you stated. I just hope they bring in some new vet forwards and not just give spots to prospects. My initial thoughts were what you have in bold. If he turns out good how do we pay him, Dahlin, and Power in two years? I guess they manage that as they go.

Hardly chicken little. In summary: The trade created a sizable hole at center. They got younger on defense - potential salary issues when Byram is up. They still lack a certain big physical presence on defense. They have more work to do on this roster. You simply cannot comprehend. Put me on ignore and do us both a favor.

Probably so. Maybe we can find UFAs that can bolster the forward position. Looks like we will be very young at D next season. No one is near their prime years for NHL defenseman.

You say he isn’t a second line center, but he will be fine. Make up your mind. We need two centers. A 4C and a guy that can play 2/3C. If Cozens can hold a 2C slot that’s great. When Cozens plays with Quinn and Peterka he looks like a 2C to me. Other times he doesn’t. You wanna start name calling? Stop responding to me if you are going to do that.

I do not see our prospects pool having NHL ready centers next season. Our defense with EJ out, and Byram in, just got younger Bo Dahlin Power Muel Johnson Clifton Joker Bryson.

Ok. Except the top 2 centers that are locked up are both playing worse than Casey, who is our best all around forward. Did this trade make the Sabres better? I would say not by itself. More moves are required. Their Defense has high pedigree, but might lack diversity in the roles needed to be successful.

I missed the game. I read the thread. Glad I missed this one. It sounds like we wasted another good game by UPL We need more NHL FORWARDS. Not less.

In the limited time I’ve seen him play he seems more like a Zemgus (without the physical size) than a Mitts .

Who says he is top 4? We don’t know yet. Does he compliment the top 4 we have? Who does he replace at LHD? Will someone be traded? I am not sure we need him as much as we needed the guy we traded away. More moves must be coming.

We don’t know how good he is, or how good he will be. So if we are trying to improve now then maybe this is not the right guy. We have 23 year old Dahlin, 21 year old Power. We have Johnson. We locked up Power and Dahlin for big dollars. - 22 years old - 190 ish pound defender - the Avs moving on from him - we lost our best 2way center to get him. Looks like a development project, I want to win now. We have enough youth already.
