I’m gonna disagree. I think Greenway is very effective defensively, and on the PK. He has a physical side to his game. His playing speed is fast enough and it may be complimentary to the others. I want to keep him and see.

Well maybe not, but lots of things Lindy said they needed to improve upon are getting addressed, even if in a low dollar cost way. It could be Lindy’s influence. It could be KA has permission to spend more. It could be Adams is learning on his own. Probably a combination of all. This season should be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

They really don’t have “big contracts” to hit, not yet anyway but they will come. The past two seasons he easily could have signed more and better vets to short term contracts, just like they are now doing, and got closer to the cap, with no threat to the future cap, and maybe they win more and make the playoffs. Looking at these signings, it feels like Ruff is teaching Adams right now. Adams is doing simple things that he would not do before. Let’s hope he doesn’t blow the UPL situation, like he definitely did with Ullmark Pegula has been extremely frugal with the Sabres. The place they play in has needed a roof for years. They are finally getting a modern scoreboard. The arena needs even more work. Meanwhile, the Bills get everything they need.

Maybe you are correct. But we will have Helenius and Östlund in Rochester playing center so we shall see. McLeod’s size and versatility as a winger may keep him around longer, especially if he can take faceoffs.

Mitts and Savoie for Byram and McLeod. For Buffalo the trades really hinge on Byram. McLeod is probably a stop gap player to fill a big hole and to bring different and needed skills.

I’m not comparing the Teams situation or the roster construction. Merely point out the Swayman situation, which is in many ways similar to UPLs. You are the one who said Adams should be “sent packing” if they go to arbitration. Now you say it’s not a fireable offense. Make up your mind. If you want to fire Adams for the past four years that is another topic in another thread and has little to do with arbitration.

Funny, Boston’s GM was not sent packing when Swayman went to arbitration. There could be some tension with UPL towards Adams. If the league settles it UPL might accept it better. We don’t know his personality.

I am not one of them that worried about 1 inch and 10 pounds when you’re talking high skill players. Would love to know how the Sabres ranked these guys. It a moot point now. Savioe will get lots of support in Edmonton and should do well.

Ruff is involved. No way he isn’t. Some of the moves will turn out better than others. Adam’s and Ruff should be accountable either way, like on all teams.

There is no way they can field all of these guys, tough decisions had to be made. They added a roster player for another player with potential that was headed to Rochester.

I’ve been saying this for years. A proven and experienced NHL Coach is needed by Adams for roster help. In Buffalo’s case it was not just for his knowledge and experience, but also for credibility.

You do know there are 23 roster spots? If you think the roster is full you don’t get it. Lots can happen and things can change. Your insistence that “an Amerk” is automatically is making the team is based on nothing tangible.

I am surprised and disappointed that UPL and KA could not reach an agreement on their own. My thoughts on the Reimer pickup was insurance for #2 only. I heard there were some hard feelings with UPL, and even some teammates, when Levi showed up and was handed games. We need the UPL from the last half of last season. The league will get to the number and after that I want a happy goalie. Malenstyn does not make enough to concern me. I still don’t care about the #2 either.

Depends on who you trade for doesn’t it? Right now there is no new trade. If Krebs is the person you want to trade you’re not getting much. We don’t need a draft pick.

Krebs does not definitively need to be removed. Teams carry 13 or 14 forwards. Now if he is package in trade fine, but it’s not a must to remove him. Having some depth is ok too, injuries happen a lot. He doesn’t cost anything and he is developing. The competition might make him better. Why move Greenway? He is an excellent defensive forward, is big and strong, good on the PK.

Seeing this is a pleasant surprise. It pays to step away for awhile. First, best of luck to Savoie. He may be a good NHL player someday. The situation is that we are loaded with young forwards and in need of NHL players. So be it, I assume Edmonton wanted him so good for him McLeod is a low risk acquisition from a contract point of view. He is big and fast, a two way player that can take faceoffs (hoping). Lindy stated he wants to win key faceoffs. Not sure McLeod can provide more points, but he scored 3 goals in the SCF. Now Krebs has to battle two centers for 3C and 4C. Ruff will of course play with line combos for a while, and we will have a good player as a 13th forward now. Not a big trade but we added another piece that improved the roster. Lots of little pieces are hopefully adding up. Pondering will there be another move?

The good news is I am less of a drinker compared to some of these guys, so fly on the wall is the best approach.

I have been critical of Adams at times as well but please spare us your woke training rhetoric.

He looked very tentative in his very limited NHL minutes. Hopefully he just needs to calm down and let it flow.

I like one year of Zucker over 5 years of Monahan. I still want a 3C though but I think Zucker is a guy that can do a lot of things across our top 9 as needed.
