Nothing good came out of this until we actually see who is replacing him. Skinner is somewhat of a poster boy for the dysfunction of the Pegula era. Although there are many.

Sabres Draft Pick #123: Simon-Pier Brunet, 6'2" RHD
Pimlach replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
At first glance I thought the name was Simon Pure Burnet. Simon Pure was a very cheap WNY local beer. I remember my buddies and I buying it on sale for 99 cents a six pack, back in the mid 70's. You just needed a buck, and then find a nickel somewhere to cover the 6 cent tax, and you have a watery and tasteless 6 pack of beer. But it was beer. By contrast sale prices for Genny was about $1.39, Labatt's Blue about $1.79, and Molson's Golden Ale $1.99. -
We know that Adams is not going anywhere right now. However, another missed playoff could spell something different for him although he still believe he is safe under Lindy's 2 year deal. My question to you, don't you think Karmanos is ahead of Forton in the Organization ranking?

Sabres acquire Forward Beck Malenstvn for 43rd Overall

On the surface the data could say that. Malenstvn just might be better than his Washington fancy stats indicate though. He is one of our 4th line additions and a shutdown/PK player. Check one box. By my count there are 5 more boxes to go - 2 centers (replace Mitts, add 4C), a top 6 winger (replace Skinner), a RHD (add a physical top 4 guy), and another bottom 6 winger (Lindy wants a policeman). -

The idea to stay below the cap for so many years sent a message to the league alright. That cap savings was supposed to be to pay their homegrown prospects, but now Adams has figured out he can't win with a 24 year old lineup, so he is trying to do what other GMs have been doing all along. Which is to field the best team you can, always. Play to win. -
Sabres Draft Pick 42: Adam Kleber Defenseman 6’5” 207 Ibs

I liked his interview. From the video it looks like he can be a physical RHD too. I wish him well in NCAA and hope we can keep him. -

Did he actually say no to Buffalo or do you just think that? Did he have a NTC/NMC? As for the overpayment, I agree with you. If we can just break through this abyss, get to the playoffs and then be competitive, then good players would be willing to come here. Vets just want a chance to win, and they want to play in front of a big enthusiastic crowds. McDermott and Beane turned the Bills culture around in short order. The city is not glamourous but it has many positives, but being dedicated to winning has to be a priority. -

I will take the trade and not worry about value. We already saw Girgs, Rousek, Robinson, etc., in that role. I will give this guy a chance in hopes that Lindy/Apert sees something. Lindy said he wants a shut down line. Maybe this guy helps us get one. -
Sabres Draft #14: Konsta Helenius, 5'11" 189lb Center

Hmm. Not the way I interpreted what you wrote, or how you wrote it but ok. Lets move on and get back to hockey. Lets see what Kevyn can do next. -

Yes. That is the common theme. -
So maybe, since he cannot play all of these prospects (unless we want a team with an average age of 23 for the next decade), he should adjust to what the market does bring?

Sabres Draft #14: Konsta Helenius, 5'11" 189lb Center

You understand my frustration. If we were the ONE Team that traded its first rounder on draft day I am ok with that. The notion that we have to look at what happened, after it happened, and then rationalize it for Adams is not something I am going to do or accept. The 14OA chip is gone. The player we took is promising as a two way center someday. Ok, that is about normal for this regime. The trade down to 14 had me thinking he had a something lined up. He got good value for the trade down too, I give him credit for that. -

As you can see my frustration is high and then I got spun up with unnecessary sarcasm. @shrader's post just rubbed me the wrong way. Listen, I don't care what other teams didn't do so as to justify Adams inabilities. You cannot look at one year and then declare, no one trades draft picks prior to the draft. Can he for once be better than below average and add a player to this team to improve it? That pick was a nice chip that could have helped bring in a good player, which in turn could get something good started this off season. Draft picks can get traded all the time, any time that trades are allowed. Then to suggest we wait until the deadline, well that is probably too late as we tend to be sellers. The move from 11 to 14 had me thinking he had a deal set up. That is my current disappointment. Let's add them to just this years list working backwards: The fake coaching search, that is another disappointment. The fact that he knew this team, and the coach, were not ready prior at the start of last season and did nothing - that is another disappointment. His past failed trades when he declares "other teams love my prospects" and "teams ask more from me than they eventually took" - that is another disappointment. I get it. There is a entire off season to make some moves. Lets see what he does. -

It’s what Adams publicly says, and then the lack of follow up, and then the excuses he gives the media. -

I’m tired of the bull$hit excuses. Your sarcasm is not appreciated either. You want to believe Adams excuses, you can go ahead. I don’t need your rationalization of what happened after the fact. I can see what happened. I don’t care how many teams traded their pick or didn’t. I see it as Adams being unable to be a GM once again. Adams job is to make this team better. He has NHL players, prospects, and draft picks at his disposal. He failed to use 14OA to do that. I don’t care if he makes the trade before the draft, at the draft, during the draft. He missed his chance to trade the pick. Did he trade down from 11 because he really needed 2 seconds, or was his intention to move the pick? It’s not the other GMs, it is him. A deal could have been worked out in advance of the draft that didn’t involve the dam pick then. It’s not a Buffalo thing until Adams makes it one. He is the one publicly discussing the “players that want to be here” bull$hit, which only fuels the fire of how bad things are. Defending Adams performance is not a hill you want to die on. -
Who are you talking about?

Just more excuses. If he knew this then why not make the moves before draft day. Other GMs do not take him seriously. Other GMs are probably sick of trying to send NHL Players to Buffalo. -

Hoping he someday plays with some Barkov in his game, being a Finn. Never know. I really wanted a trade and a new 2C in the house. -

I was pointing to the fact that teams are making moves, filling holes, etc. Next time I'll clear my posts with you in advance, ok?
