I always harken back to the Pegula's mission statement on the Sabres. "We want players that want to be here". Trading Eichel may be a foregone conclusion if, in fact, he doesn't want to be here.

I thought they picked it up in the 1st and 3rd. The second had moments as well. But yes, as many have pointed out, they need to stay out of the box, the PK is woeful against teams that can move the puck with some speed and accuracy. Did notice what Marty eluded to during the game, the puck possession numbers. But then, I've been harping on that with what seems like forever on that subject. I will never understand some of their on ice decisions, as in, the players. They give the puck away way to often, and sometimes without real pressure. It is baffling. But, baby steps, on to the next.

I'm taking a positive approach to this, or, at least, a self teachable moment. I am in awe, truly in awe of just how bad at hockey the Buffalo Sabres are. I am really interested to know if individuals or entities within the sport are using the Sabres as some sort of case study, from practicing removing curses all the way up to the actual psychological impact on players, fans. All case studies should go on for years to see what the true ramifications of an event like we are witnessing here in Buffalo has, not only on the franchise brand, or whether or not FA's will come here, but the longer term effects on the fan base, on the players involved. These type of studies would interest me. I wonder if some of the fans and players will turn to dramatic therapy treatments, like electric shock or, joining the church of scientology or some *****. I really do ponder these things.

It kept offering me trades, at 30, then at 61, so I kept counter offering lol. Eight 3rd rd picks and two 2nds in addition to the Bills own 1st and 2nd next year is nothing to sneeze at. That will keep good talent, both starting and depth in the system at cost control for a bit. Well worth leaving the 30 and 61 behind. If, however, you'd like to bring in an impact player now, to push the team further over the top (I feel the Bills have the talent now, before this draft even takes place, to win the Super Bowl), then it is my opinion your not getting that impact player at 30 or 61, your going to have to move up in the draft by combining the two picks.

I would say at this point, the LA option. You have a RW'er in Rochester waiting for one of Turcott or Byfield. You have other young talent en-rout to Rochester via already drafted pieces, you have Reinhart and Risto to move for a bit older (22 - 24 yr old) pieces to help lead in a 2 to 3 seasons. You develop the kids, bide your time, collecting further pieces. Get what you can for the others, but the LA hypothetical reads like a NASA pre-launch check list. In the end, the flight director says........ GO FOR LAUNCH!

I would spend the 2nd rdr to get it done if necessary. He really does need to go, and that is sad. A team guy, just bad breaks on the health front.

This goes to the core of what Adam's said about pride and wearing the Sabres jersey to me. There needs to be a much higher standard, and if talking with, meeting alumni from yester-years instills that, so let it be written, so let it be done. Maybe a pre-seadon alumni bootcamp is what is required, with alumni screaming in their faces, bag skating them, 12 hour grueling runs around Western New York, rain, sleet, snow or shine. Whatever it takes.
