  1. I don't think he is untradeable, but I would be reluctant to do it. Just because a player falls outside of the untouchable category doesn't mean one must use them as a part to get other parts you don't have. It would be different if the cupboard was otherwise bare and necessity compelled one. That isn't the case here. There are abundant resources for KA to acquire what is deficient in the roster.
  2. I'm not going to spend time looking over your past posting history. You've been here long enough to accrue nearly five thousand, so I assume you are sometimes more congenial. The few times I've noticed you I've actually wondered if you have troll DNA. Mittlestadt has become an ideal glue guy. He's a great story, too.
  3. I don't know what the coach was thinking. I don't infer from his absence in the first ten seconds of OT that the coach has a negative view of Johnson. And I sure as hell don't think it means Johnson is an AHL tweener, but if that's your take, good for you. We'll see how accurate it turns out.
  4. You seem to take perverse pleasure in telling folks the Sabres have no chance to make the playoffs which is virtually, if not mathematically, true. Here, you appear to enjoy implying that folks ought to conclude from the fact that Johnson wasn't on the ice for the start of OT what? That his coach doesn't have confidence in him? Maybe no one thought it was likely the game would end ten seconds into the extra period. "But we will pretend it was an accident." Snide and nasty. You properly inhabit your screen name.
  5. They need to sign Johnson and bring in two quality veteran D. Hopefully one of them is top 4D.
  6. Pretty sure that is limited to the female half of the species.
  7. We're going to wear them out taking all their punches.
  8. Think he's going to stick with 27? Not that I'm planning on buying a sweater tonight . . .
  9. I'm so confused, five minutes ago we were supposed to admit our mistakes and move on.
  10. Ivan Provorov sold a lot of jerseys when he sat out in protest. Maybe this is a secret ploy to sell Boosh merchandise. On a serious note, I prefer sports free of ideological divisiveness, except for the Olympics when nationalism is an intrinsic part of the competition. But that is not a realistic option. The political is swallowing the private whole for the most part and even arguing for the private at all is suspect in some quarters.
  11. It's almost like they were only playing to induce Levi to sign and once that was accomplished the coach turned into a pumpkin.
  12. I honestly think this is pretty obvious. If I turn out wrong, I apologize in advance, but it seems to me the Sabres are an ideal landing spot for an ambitious, smart young goalie prospect which describes Devon Levi to a T.
  13. It's been years since I visited, but my cousin used to live in Nashville. It's a fun place with a nice music scene if you're interested in that. I like the neo-classical vibe, though I suppose some might find it somewhat pretentious pastiche.
  14. The Atlanta Flames were a likeable team. They had a fan base of mostly transplants. The Thrashers were a disaster. There's minimal natural interest in Atlanta for hockey. I can't imagine trying a third time there.
  15. Yep, so some plausibility. The story on hockeybuzz is he gets in trouble for passing on information and disappears for long stretches. Then he swoops in with a flash message when he has news and thinks its safe. Guess we'll see.
  16. So, I don't post much and I don't have any inside information. There is a young fella I've remarked a few times before who posts at Hockeybuzz. I don't really like the vibe of that place (folks here are funnier and nicer and well-informed,) but it's another source for Sabres' talk. Anyway, fella supposedly is close to the Pegulas and seems to me he's been right in the past, but I'm fuzzy about exactly what. In any event, this fella posted the following message about forty minutes ago. 110% expect to be surprised And you'll all like it . Cya at the draft Don't know if it means anything and perhaps its utterly bogus. Folks over there are speculating Saros.
  17. Personally, I wouldn't trade any of the 2022 1sts. I think we hit on all three.
  18. I saw a rumor on another site yesterday that it is a broken foot and Tuch is out 4 to 6 weeks. I hope that is not the real story, but if it is, does this alter perspectives on whether Meier is worth the expenditure to attain? He fits the timeline, but a top 4 D is really what I want.
  19. So far as I can tell, Jeff Darlington on ESPN speculated a trade for Henry to the Bills. It's the equivalent of a fan on a message board throwing out a hypothetical. I don't think there's anything beyond that.
  20. I recollect when you would post here about how ancient you were and desperate for the team to start getting it together. (It was a shock when I figured out from another post that we are basically the same age. I didn't realize till then how truly old I was . . . )
  21. His drafts are mediocre. His day two picks are often puzzling and disappointing. Nonetheless, I'm not sure how much power he really has. I think McDermott still holds a lot of sway. Beane absolutely has to go big on improving the oline and I think adding a real WR#2 through the draft and free agency. They'll have to let some talent on D walk and coach up that side. What's the point of having a D HC if you can't manage that? I disagree on Knox, however. They're having to keep him in to bolster the terrible oline. I think he's underutilized and would have much better numbers with a better oline and gameplanning. Dorsey had better show a lot of improvement, as well, or the whole lot of them get the door.
  22. Coaching needs changes, but it won't happen, alas. Oline is priority one, full stop, but WR2 is a real need.
