  1. Well, look no further than Utah and L.A. Some teams get things done, some don't.
  2. Calgary nabs Basha just one pick before us, that started the day off badly for me. So close I was thinking could it happen......... Theme of the draft was clearly size. For most teams anyway. Utah getting big things done. LA making big moves as well. There's 2 GMs that unquestionably made their teams better so far in this off season. Now maybe Tampa wouldn't trade Jeannot into the division, that's a likely possibility, but if you tell me we couldn't have beaten that price tag you need your head examined. Well done LA. They're tired of losing to Edmonton. Dubas is really f'ing up Pittsburgh imo. They aren't the main competition any more, that's near guaranteed. I have to go to that sphere one day.
  3. Unlike most of you this was my fave pick we made (for where it was made). This guy is a competitor and totally has the right attitude. He needs time and development, but he could evolve into a solid bottom 6 player.
  4. Big, and big D was a theme in this draft. I'm glad we didn't buck that trend.
  5. Seems reasonable. No idea if he has a lot of upside or not but on paper he seems like a solid pick for that point.
  6. Well this is the best news of the day. The lack of trades by Buffalo for roster players at the draft had me a little depressed (L.A. and Utah making moves!) and their draft was pretty underwhelming but then I heard about this and so there's hope after all. The people here that are lamenting his lost production and worrying will be able to relax as next season unfolds and they come to realize it was a good move. There's no point in arguing it now, if you don't get it you won't, but give it time and you will see.
  7. There's only 2 scenarios. One, he will flip several prospects for good NHL pros or two, he plans on filling the NHL roster with rookies. The first idea could make us into a good team if he flips enough of them. The second idea will be a joke - again.
  8. It's not career death though. After you come here you get to leave and go win a cup somewhere else. It makes you appreciate the highs and lows and the differences so it's a training ground or a farm team for the league.
  9. He didn't wear any socks in his skates his entire career.
  10. It's Daryl Sittler appreciation day.
  11. I think it's about 6, maybe 7 times now I've heard these Sportsnet guys go "you can only have so many prospects, at a certain point you have to make some moves because you just have too many contracts". Somebody want to pass that on to Adams.
  12. The new Tage Thompson basically.
  13. It's like their scouts only like one type of player, period. I could be reading into it, but he did not look thrilled with the choice.
  14. I think the Flyers got the guy we needed more so that 2nd rounder better get us something or that's another bad trade.
  15. You're right, the knock on Greentree is speed, but that's the same thing they said about Geekie, and Geekie was a solid third liner for Boston this year with workmanlike fill in time on the top two lines as well. He will take some time and need to work on his speed, but he has real effort and leadership qualities. He's different to what we already have, and that's why I'm so high on him. Oddly, Basha is the guy I suggested on the Bruins board for the pick they got from Ottawa (25). He strikes me as a prototypical Bruin. Pick 25 seems about right for him though so unlikely he's a Sabre.
  16. There are people not on the side of bitterness, disdain and hopelessness? What? Why? I want names. More importantly I want to know what they're smoking because I want some.
  17. Neither, because I'd have Benson on my second line and Greenway on my fourth. Kadri is on my third. With who you might ask? With 2 players currently not on this roster.
  18. Unless you trade Power for Brady Tkachuk (or some similar deal)
  19. That they don't have a firm decision on what they want or don't want from Skinner. They should, and if they don't it's all bs and cluelessness. Would they try to trade him? Sure. But aren't all players in motion every season? They should be. Nothing should ever be off the table at this time of the year. But they either want him or they don't and that decision should be firm and made. No ifs ands or maybes.
  20. So who will be our Rasputin? 🙂
  21. Correction, he's been employed by teams that have won cups. He won nothing. The extent of his input leading to those wins is just your guess.
