That is the typo/misspelling/Freudian slip of the year.

Would you be happy if Pegula sold the team?

Sure. The Duchy of Grand Fenwick needs one. -
Getting rid of scorers for guys who "play the right way"
PerreaultForever replied to JoeSchmoe's topic in The Aud Club
You need a mix of players and a balanced roster. You cannot get players who do not play the right way to play the right way unless the veteran leadership core of the team plays the right way, sets a standard, and demands new players meet that standard. In this entire Pegula era we have never had that core and have never set that standard. We just talk about it and turn over spare parts until the next rebuild or tank. They never seem to learn because this is the Pegula way. About Reinhart, he needed to be surrounded by players who played the right way. Once he was, he excelled. We never surrounded him with players like that. Eichel was no different. He should never have been captain. Once he had to adapt to a system and play under the leadership of character people like Stone, he too excelled. Drafting high doesn't matter if you don't create a culture and standard for those young guys to enter into. We always do it backwards and it always fails. -

Yes. Go. Begone. Exit. Frak off. -
That was pathetic. Fedotov is a total sieve as you saw at the end when they pulled the goalie and finally went to the net. Horrible goalie and a D anchored by Risto and Erik Johnson. FFS what a bunch of soft posers. Cozens played the game like he was looking over his shoulder all night to see if Hathaway was coming for him. Pathetic. I'm losing my love.

Bowen Byram- After a tough start, continues to improve

Pretty much sums up how twitter operates on everything. -
I've seen Philly a few times this year and they are not very good, but Michkov is. The PK and PP have to be better or they might give us trouble. We can beat them with speed but if we stand still and let them play physical things can fall apart fast as they counter quickly. Which goalie we get matters. Ersson can be very good and Fedotov is really really bad. Time for Cozens to stare down his demon.

Didn't take any advanced stats to know that line has been shite.

They are so weird with injury reporting. He goes from "might play Thursday" to placed on IR after not playing. It seems every year there's injuries where we are just wondering wtf is it?

People on twitter keep talking about Nyquist to the Sabres. Seems like the kind of guy KA would go after. I just want someone added so that Quinn gets pushed out of the lineup and has to earn his way back in.

There goes more than half of @LGR4GM 's posts.

I'd accept Byram PLUS McLeod is better than Mitts so if Savoie never amounts to much it's a win. -

McLeod has good speed but Mitts is much better all around. -

Pretty terrible hockey game until suddenly Cozens decided to become a man and showed us what he's capable of if he chooses to apply himself. The goal was waived off (don't agree with it but I have seen goals waived off for even less this year so it's a thing, not a good one) but they took over at that point and were eventually rewarded. So there are players here that can do it, when they want to. Now how do we get them to be that every night and every minute??? Quinn is still a waste of space. Win's a win. -

Well that's fine, and it's not wrong, but if Ruff keeps trying the same things that aren't working it's empty words. Second line just doesn't work. -
It's simpler than that. If a GM builds a team that steadily improves and wins he did a decent job. If his team fails to win and keeps missing the playoffs without progressing he did a bad job and his moves can all be critiqued. Adams has been here long enough to put him into that latter category unless they win and make the playoffs this year. Now if he trades Byram, then I can only think the cheapo owner doesn't care about winning. It's not that I like Byram, if anyone's read me they know I don't and I think that was a bad trade, but if you trade one guy away because you don't want to pay him and then trade the guy you got the next year because his contract is coming up then it starts to look like you just don't want to pay anybody. idk, it seems obvious to me. Our projected second line scorers aren't getting the job done and you have cap room and trade capital so you go get a winger to try to fix that hole. Not doing anything with that problem pisses away another season. Can't imagine any GM (experienced or inexperienced) can't see that so unless he is being prevented from doing it by the owner, he needs to fix it or be fired for not fixing it. Simple as that.

Beatable. Can't afford to toss these games away. Key to the game is net front on both ends imo. -
I don't remember him but did he ever play D for them? If not he doesn't qualify 🙂 I'm thinking Val James might have been a D man who played wing as well but I'm not sure. I think Lee Fogolin had some wing time as well, much like Lindy was used. Lindy was actually a pretty bad D man when he started, which is why he was put on the wing to hit people as he had a lot of raw skill and size.
-
It's not ideal but if you don't have any decent forwards to sub in........... Personally I think it only works if you have a bruising D man who you can throw onto the 4th line wing for some shifts. There was probably a more recent example of a Sabres D man playing wing but the last time I remember that clearly was when that D man was named.................wait for it.................Lindy Ruff.
-
So if Thompson's out there actually is no spare forward. They can run with 7 D but otherwise it's Abe-Kubel onto the 4th line, Lafferty over to center, Krebs up to the 3rd and McLeod up to the first. Quinn gets to play no matter how much he sucks. Yay.

Their PP did look decent so I'd worry about that a little. Maybe we get the back up goalie?
