  1. For those of us who don't watch the AHL is there a reason?
  2. I heard that rumour. The Bruins/Habs history makes that seem unlikely and he's such a career happy Bruin but I guess he probably did grow up a Montreal home fan so it's possible. Boston fanbase will die a little if that happens. If that's the trend and Giroux's going to Ottawa and Bergeron's going to Montreal, does that mean Kane's coming here? 🙂
  3. I knew this would start here and as I said earlier, emphatically NO. Toronto's simply built the wrong way. For brevity's sake, they are built from the top down and are top heavy. A proper build starts in goal and builds bottom up. If we get the goaltending right (UPL Levi Portello - at least 2 get good ) we should also have the D and so our prospects for playoff success will be brighter in time. Signing Tavares and being squeezed by Nylander has forever handicapped that team with too much money on 4 players, and this year they were all healthy. Their D and bottom end is just never good enough and never will be with that salary structure. and I love it.
  4. https://newsbeezer.com/czechrepubliceng/dominika-haseks-daughter-has-returned-from-england-after-years-she-finds-it-difficult-to-find-czech-words-and-she-has-a-great-accent/ However you spell her name it seems real. Kind of cute he named her Dominika.
  5. Not quite the Vancouver riots but it was only the first round. I'm really looking forward to watching and listening to all the TSN and Sportsnet etc. talk shows on Monday breaking down "what went wrong" and "what now for the Leafs" or as we like to call it the Leaf whining. It's been a season highlight every year for quite a while. and before someone starts the thread, NO we do not want to trade for Marner. Bergeron looked like he was saying farewells. If he's done it's a loss to the league. A great leader and class act second to none.
  6. If he keeps it. Do you know, does he want 25? He wore 22 at Michigan.
  7. Oh absolutely. All I'm saying is the smartest GMs think about cap projections for coming years as well as this year. Plan ahead so that core pieces don't end up leaving. But ya, the goalie thing worries me a little. I want to start winning, seriously winning, next season, and don't want any hoping for Bedard or one more year of building stuff. The ship is righted, it's on course, time to sail, and we need solid goaltending to do that. Sign a good veteran to a 3-4 year deal to play with UPL. Near the end of that deal Levi and/or Portello come in. In the meantime draft a few more in later rounds as projects with potential. Make goalie a strength again and not a weakness.
  8. He's right, it is the best plan always. These days you also need one other aspect I think. You need a good set of forward salary cap projections. You have too many guys up for big raises at the same time, that might be the time you move somebody, planning ahead. otherwise, yes, it's all about the draft and development.
  9. I'm not sure that's true entirely. There's been some pretty evasive answers that could be quiet support. Hard to tell if it's out of fear or just not wanting any blow back here in North America. Hockey playing kid though, probably politically oblivious. Good point. Two numbers I guess 🙂
  10. Ya, I remember that '82 draft. Scotty Bowman genius era. Andreychuk at 16 was the steal of that draft. Looking back on it, also shows you how first overall isn't always the best player. Gord Kluzak was a decent player, Bellows was good, but Scott Stevens at 5, man, that guy turned out to be foundational. 2015 is just a sad reminder of how Murray screwed things up. Tanking and then trading away your picks. Much sadness. It's taken years of pain, but it does seem like Adams has reversed that idea and will stick with building via the draft, and it's a good thing.
  11. Don't forget we have 3 first round picks, not just 2, and before you dismiss the Florida pick remember Samuelsson was taken in the 2nd round. This draft should help fill the prospect cupboard nicely, but they'll all likely be development projects that'll take a few years at least.
  12. I'm usually pretty 'let them play' on these things but that imo is a deliberate head shot and should get him a 1 game suspension. He knew exactly what he was doing.
  13. Cozens looked pretty good and was a little feisty in Canada's dominant win over Germany. Germany apparently has a roster spot held for JJ should he become available.
  14. idk. I have mixed feelings and won't decide on whether or not I like this guy until I find out if he likes Putin or not. Just as long as they don't give him Dave Andreychuk's old number I guess it'll be okay.
  15. just stop okay? You're tiresome and it's off topic.
  16. It has definitely and the penalty calls in this playoffs show the league wants it that way, but he was throwing out John Scott and Steve Ott for his argument so that needed countering. Maybe this is the year it all changes, but Tampa had to add grit and size to win it all, St. Louis had it, there's virtually no cup winner that didn't add size and grit role players to get to the end. That's been hockey forever. Soft teams get bounced.
  17. F'n Laughs. But, they have lost games 6 and 7 before so there is hope. Bruins are done. Staal shutting down Bergeron has been a key to that series.
  18. Nice informative rebuttal. 5 stars.
  19. Always resorting to the dull boring memes, and you wonder why I find your arguments tiresome and repetitive. I think you've forgotten the last good roster we had and you've definitely forgotten the Peca.May, Barnaby and even Rob Ray years. So ridiculous to make an argument where you think anybody would be against "talented grit". Just silly.
  20. He's been saying it for years, but whatever. I personally thought (before losing Saros) that they would make it a tough series and put up a good fight. They did play them close and beat them in the regular season but they've been trailing off last part of the year and without Saros they really didn't bring their A game. I thought it would take 6 or 7. Seems Washington Florida is that series instead.
  21. "threatening". Kind of a dumb word to describe hockey players but whatever. Lee is a leader and provides a strong net front presence. You going to argue adding him to any team doesn't make that team better? We could definitely use that.
  22. You like to over exaggerate your points and push extremes. I've always talked about a balanced line up, but if I mention the word size or physicality at all you will snipe at it to try to make your point. Way it's been since I got here, and I imagine it's the way you will always be.
  23. Florida damn lucky tonight. Just shows you how a series can turn in a few moments. Except the Predators didn't play all that physical in the series. I think it's clear they pretty much lost their will to live when Saros got injured. They knew they had no real shot without him and played like that for the most part. Yes, their fill in goalie played well, but that wasn't enough to reignite their desire. Also, to your ongoing thesis, yes, you need the talent, everybody knows that, but not just the talent, and the two are not mutually exclusive. Don't know why you can't get that.
  24. League is, but there's always teams who are crap or at least underachieving who would think winning record first. Build a strong base with him at the helm. If this was last year 90% of this group would be for hiring him right away. I kind of hope Vegas does hire him. They would win more games and make the playoffs probably, but Jack gonna hate that style and all Trotz demands.
