  1. He's definitely far from what he was, but on any given night or moment he can still have an impact. For that bargain price the Rangers win the deal. It still makes them a better team than they were. It is a bit like Taylor Hall actually. Unless their goalie stands on his head though they're still not getting out of their division.
  2. This would be my guess (Chychrun?) but they have been trying to unload Puljarvi for a while. Don't think he really makes Carolina any better.
  3. Oh I read an earlier thing on twitter that had him as a 4m cap hit but I guess they mixed up his 3 year total with his annual. Shows you how little people know about this guy, myself included. So that's better, but it's still a nothing gained deal imo.
  4. He is similar to Fitz but with a higher price tag and we gave up a prospect to get him. I still say not claiming Mike Reilly when the Bruins waived him was a big mistake this year. He could have played in Bryson's spot all season. Knock at the time was he had a 4m ish contract and we would be stuck with him next year and now we traded for a bottom end guy with a 4m ish contract that we are stuck with for next year. I had hope for Bloom as, pardon the pun, a late bloomer that would be a gritty power forward somewhere down the line for us. Maybe not, but it's too soon to give up on him imo.
  5. Well I do and I don't. But it's really no different than listening to the people around here. The thing about this I'm noticing is there isn't any dissent. It isn't like 5 happy with the trade 1 against or whatever, it's every single post is some level of happiness on their side, and on this side a lot of head scratching and speculation and even hope it's part of a bigger move that'll make it all make sense, cause at this moment, it doesn't.
  6. Read it for yourself, there seems to be a lot of serious dislike for Stillman.
  7. Possibly, but I wouldn't count Ottawa out yet either. They are a long shot, but they might also be the best built for the end of season hockey we will see now. But yes, at the moment, it helps us. Tampa paid a fortune for Jeannot, but he should be a force for them in the playoffs and they will give the Leafs (if not everyone) trouble.
  8. All I know for sure is Canucks fans seem really happy with this trade and most of them don't even know (or care) who Bloom is. That kind of says it all to me.
  9. Kyle has provided leadership but he is kind of slow and past his best before date. Pretty easy to upgrade that bottom line and I think we should. Time to let the younger guys assume the leadership (Cozens, Dahlin, etc). I think Kyle should retire and take that NHLPA job if that rumor is true.
  10. So is this why they never play Comrie? Keep him from getting re-injured so they can trade him ? Just hoping.....................
  11. watch him turn into Cam Neely to reverse Canuck Karma.
  12. Just for perspective, if you go to twitter almost all of the Canuck fans are 1. ecstatic to get rid of Stillman 2. are glad to unload his contract 3. don't have a clue who Josh Bloom is but don't care, and 4. are praising their GM for this deal.
  13. OR, he has to toss in a D man from the roster to make that deal happen (maybe Jokiharju) and so he needed another D body for depth. Especially if Dahlin is more banged up than we think.
  14. I thought Josh Bloom was supposed to be the power forward we all wanted coming soon................ I guess not. Seems too early to give up on him but I guess they don't like his development. Stillman? He's not good. I don't think he's any better than Colin Miller or Robert Hagg was. I DEFINITELY don't think he's any better than Mike Riley who we could have had for roughly the same contract and term for free (and probably still could have for free). So I don't get this at all.
  15. It was definitely on Mitts, but I think it was more about him not realizing the guy had come out of the box than about Power going off. It was a sloppy too casual pass, and as I said elsewhere, those possession oriented drop passes need to go. Krebs made one earlier that almost cost us as well but since there was no goal nobody's talking about it.
  16. lol, oh sure. there's a long history of teams with 4 scoring lines winning the cup.
  17. You got a thing for "shot totals"? Just be glad he's not Jack Edwards.
  18. I'd be willing to part with Savoie from those 3 plus picks. No, you don't trade a solid young locked up D man to acquire another D man. Your D doesn't get better that way. It has to be forward prospects and picks. They can have Bryson to fill the hole temporarily if they want as a toss in and I'd consider Jokiharju but Power Dahlin Muel are untouchable imo.
  19. There's no question about this, but the real question shouldn't be about UPL, it should be about Comrie. UPL should be playing in the minors and working non stop with his goalie coach but he's here out of desperation by the team and he's had a few good moments as rookie goalies do (and some ugly ones). But why did we even sign Comrie?
  20. The closer we get, and the more teams have already made their big moves, the more intriguing the idea of Chychrun becomes to me.
  21. It's never been confirmed but the rumours say he wants 10.5X8
  22. Oh heck no. Not even close. Sabres broadcast is now a little on the dull side now and again but Marty's good and overall it's a slick professional affair. It's mid to upper range in terms of league comparisons. Detroit and Pittsburgh are two of the worst imo. Really hate the Detroit ones. HNIC is produced extremely well and they are the most knowledgeable without question but their biases can make them hard to watch. The ESPN broadcasts are the worst imo and they have the money to be much better. Hockey obviously an afterthought for them.
  23. No, but I would make a call to Pasternak's agent this year if Boston doesn't pony up and sign him.
  24. Cozens really brought it today. I really loved seeing how even after a hat trick he was still focused and looking at a white board trying to get better. He just lives, eats and breaths hockey. Still my choice for captain next year although I know it'll be Dahlin. We missed Dahlin today. Some huge defensive lapses and errors and the lack of D depth is still a problem. Fingers crossed he's back soon. Quinn stepped up and if he keeps playing like that he will win me over. All the young guys on this team seem to get it. True hockey players, not divas. You could see the quit in Washington after we scored the 7th goal. They are done. Shell of what they were. Now on the negative, although possession is important we have to stop those blind drop back passes. One almost cost us and one did. Just dumb stupid plays. Sometimes it's better to just shoot it in and go forecheck, especially against an old team with a weak D. I hope Granato takes them to town on this. It has to stop. Speaking of Granato, second game in a row with an animated fired up coach. Love it. You know he can taste playoffs and he wants it. It's not just teaching any more, he wants it. They all want it. Gentlemen and ladies, it's been a long decade, but I think we finally have a hockey team.
  25. Actually I don't think this is a problem. He's pretty quiet on the ice and during the games. Singularly focused I think. If he's vocal off ice and in the locker room he still can be.
