I’ll give the nfl the benefit of the doubt that the 5 minutes was just standard protocol locally called by the refs and the delay to pause the game really wasn’t about struggling to make the decision, but making sure all parties necessary were consulted and informed first and the stadium had time to prepare. If anyone is to blame it’s the head ref on the field not thinking immediately to contact HQ to call it. Hoping for the best. Classy Bengals keep it classy

Mittelstadt, Oloffson, and Krebs are the most easily replaced players regularly in the line up. Only one of those still has expectations to improve. Will be curious if they are tradeable assets. I’d keep Oloffson and trade Mittelstadt for someone more defensively sound.

I don’t feel so bad about that Marchand goal seeing how egregious it was on replay. Should’ve been a penalty. Funny they tried to call the same thing on the Sabres just earlier on.

A year ago we had a team that would come out hot put up points and then either watch the other team collapse or comeback while they didn’t keep up with adjustments Now both our offense and defense is coming out slow, but they’re adjusting as they go and at least one side of the ball dominates to win the game. Problem is every week it’s a different side of the ball and it doesn’t feel like there’s rhythm. Still happy and well entertained. Just trying to explain why the confidence can be low. The team is consistent but it’s a different hero each week

The comments from the Sabres data guy at least give me confidence they don’t have a buffoon doing stats like I often see on message boards. As much as fancy stats try to help they just as easily overlook major concepts. The simpler concepts are often more telling of what’s going on than anything. PDO being a prime example of an oversimplified concept being majorly telling. Honestly, take +/-, remove empty netters and short handers, and correct for minutes/games played and what fancy stat does that give you? Comparing that with a shot based statistic that ignores rebounds and I think you have a tool chest to tell many stories.
