  1. What does it say about my sophistication (or current level of inebriation) if I found this thoroughly enjoyable?
  2. Perhaps the style of play Ruff preaches resonates with Greenway's natural strengths.
  3. This is a positive thing. If they keep it up, the goals will come.
  4. Couldn't that be serious? Some vital organs where he took that blatant cross check
  5. On the optimistic side, as an acknowledgement/affirmation of the leaders on the team, those leaders may feel even more empowered to step up what they bring on and off the ice. A vote of confidence from a new coach can't be a bad thing.
  6. Someone close to me works for another team's FO, and he said they've been trying to pry Kulich from us for a long time. Shows why. I'm glad they didn't! I missed this one, but I hope Kulich makes the team, and hope he plays tonight because I can't watch the Monday one.
  7. What would the effect on junior and/or NCAA hockey be? It seems like it could have a big effect there (as would changing the draft age to 20, but I only see that suggested in this thread, not elsewhere...). Are there parties lobbying for this?
  8. I think the point is that making the argument that something is idealistically the "wrong reason" doesn't prove that it isn't a significant factor in the real world
  9. I think that if UPL's "last half of the season" (uh-oh, now Tage flashbacks) is who UPL is for the foreseeable future, we will be lucky if Levi reaches that level. I think he can. I am a big fan of the idea of Levi starting for Rochester, and getting called up for games whenever UPL needs a night off.
  10. He's waiting at the bar for him with Doug Whaley and Tim Murray
  11. Completely agree, which (IMO) makes the sentiments I was responding to hold even less water
  12. I was mostly inclined to respond because of the quote of turning down an interview. The points you make definitely make sense. However (and now this is a different point), I don't think the Sabres situation is as dire as some might be making it. It could be a great opportunity for a coach to really turn things around, with many building blocks in place.
  13. Thanks for the recap- interesting thoughts from PH. Glad I didn't end up putting you on ignore 😛
  14. Wondering why some are strongly opposed to Ruff. I'm not advocating either way, but he was the coach for the best Sabres teams I've ever watched. Seems like he was only fired to facilitate the tank.
  15. With all due respect, I think this notion is absurd. Anyone who doesn't already have a job offer will interview here. It's a head coaching position in the NHL. These spots don't grow on trees.
  16. I'm sorry, but the reality is: 32 jobs exist in the world for this profession, and if one is open and you get offered one, you take it. Plus, the ego of a head coach-type is such that they will believe they have what it takes to improve any situation, even if presenting a great challenge.
  17. I got into hockey in the mid-90s as a young kid in Buffalo, so I didn’t see Gretzky in his prime. I’ve seen Ovechkin’s whole career, and I’m cheering for the dude. He’s a force of nature. This is neither here nor there, as far as this thread goes, but… During my time as a hockey fan, at live games, the person I was the most terrified of whenever they had the puck was always… …Jagr
