So he's Josh Doan without the physicality? Why do we want this player and in no way shape or form is he a top 6 player correct? So where does he fit here?

Possibly could it be that this franchise hasn’t made the playoffs in 14 years? Instead of doing a house cleaning of the front office they fire a strength & conditioning coach. They trade away our 2nd leading goal scorer/3rd leading point producer in Peterka and replace him with somebody on the roster who hasn’t put up those numbers. Oh and we had a huge problem with defense and goaltending so we got 1 defensemen and another backup goalie so now we have 2 backup goalies about to start the season. I think at this point you shouldn’t be asking people to why we care about trades and preseason but why do we care about this team at all?

Just ok, he should have been long dealt by now and each of or lines RHD should have gotten upgraded defensively by either UFA or through trade. Kesselering was solid but Timmins is average at best from everything I’ve read on him and Byram is know more as an offensive defenseman. Are we any better off than last season defensively? Doubtful.

That is a whole lot of what ifs there but I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I'm pretty sure I know the ending to this story as it's been replayed over a decade and a half now and like my good friend at Shawshank once said "Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane".

Are you saying 30 GA are a direct correlation to JJ Peterka? If so I find that very hard to believe since that is what your defense is there for.

Dahlin is a solid all around defensemen. Byram I wasn't impressed with, sometimes he looked like he could be on Dahlin's level and sometimes he looked like he belonged on the 3rd pairing, very inconsistent. I don't need every guy to throw around the body but I was wanting more. Power is good offensively but is terrible on defense, how can you be a defensemen and literally suck at the part that's in your job title? I'm not a fan at all. Micahel Kesselring seems like a great fit, since I didn't watch many Utah games at all I've been watching Youtube videos and he looks exactly what we needed, a big, rugged, hitting, fighting, stand up for your teammates, defensive defensemen. Samuelsson is definitely regressing, he should be what Kesselring is by now but he doesn't score, doesn't hit, doesn't fight, doesn't stick up for teammates, doesn't play defense well which makes him a perfect fit for what the Sabres are. Timmins is going on his 6th team now since 2019, he offers absolutely 0 offense, he's a plus player which is good, he seems to be a slight defensive upgrade from Clifton but it comes with the expense of hitting. Essentially everything I'm reading is that he's connor Clifton without the toughness or hitting so why didn't we just keep Jacob Bernard-Docker? We didn't do enough on defense imo, not even close. Samuelsson should be gone either by trade or buyout (Samuelsson should have been dealt along with a 2nd to Pittsburgh). This team operates like it's been to the Stanley Cup finals each season yet with only minimum upgrades. Why not go out and find the best 3rd pairing defensive defensmen to pair with Timmins and trade Samuelsson or buy him out? If Byram comes in at a bargain and we don't spend some money anywhere else then this was obviously just a cost cutting year again for Buffalo. My solution would be to trade Byram and get your top 6 forward and use our 1st (protected) next year and go out and get a guy like Rasmus Anderson (but sign him before he comes here) who from what I have seen and read is about the same player as Byram but I must say that -38 last year looks really nasty for Anderson, I don't know why his line was scored on so drastically but I think him paired with Dahlin would help out alot.

It's clear we haven't gotten "better", we lost our 3rd leading point producer and so far have filled him in with Jack Quinn? Who for the most part last season was a liability on the ice. We also still have a huge issue in net, Adams is solely banking on UPL reverting back to that half a season where he was dominant but the fact of the matter is the only time he played like that was in a contract year, I'm not saying he can't return to that but not doing everything possible to get a true #1 in here (I like Alex Lyon but my fear is he's going to be our #1 goalie because UPL isn't good enough) is inexcussable even though you'll hear a bunch on here defend him and say he tried but nobody would waive their NMC. We did however get tougher to play against (it only took Adams year 5 to finally realize we need to get tough) with the additions of Kesselring & Doan plus drafting some big dudes which I've been waiting the Sabres to do basically since Lucic destroyed Miller and our gutless team did nothing.

I would need more than Kadri for sure, that contract is brutal and I would definitely be throwing in Samuelsson as well to unload 1 of our abomination contracts. Maybe Kadri, a D prospect on the verge of coming up and a draft pick.

This does not bode well for Terry's Yacht upgrades.

I’d have to think the 3rd pairing LHD job and RHD job are up for grabs.
