  1. It’s both fair and unfair. Yes they were drafted in the same slot from the same league, but that is where the comparison ends. Krebs and Lazar are very different style players. Krebs was a playmaker in Juniors while Lazar was more of a goal scorer with 41 in his D+1 season. It’s also unfair to Krebs to assume after 16 NHL games that he’ll end up like Lazar and be a marginal NHL player. Truthfully Krebs injury hurt his draft status, but neither guy was ever expected to carry their NHL team.
  2. No but this was pretty good.
  3. Did anyone else notice that former Sabres prospect and former Amerk player Justin Kea was the Ref in the Amerks game? Also former Amerk Jordan Samuels-Thomas is also a new AHL ref.
  4. The only place ND belongs is in the ACC.
  5. Clemson before Dabo took over was a mediocre team at best. Where was GA 6-7 years ago? They were a solid 8-10 win team but not a contender. They hired the right coach and recruited. Florida could easily do the same thing. USC and Texas have access to great recruiting bases and consistently fail. Oregon has built a great program, sadly they just can’t seem to get over the hump, but now hired a great coach who can get them there. Bama has been great for a decade plus, but others like GA and Clemson have closed the gap. Oklahoma and Ohio St are in hunt every year as well. Texas A&M has taken a huge leap forward and has incredibly deep resources. The way to build competitive balance is for other teams to step up.
  6. Saving him for Alabama.
  7. For GA it helped. They got healthy.
  8. When you can’t beat Cincinnati the only thing you should say is how lucky you are not to have played GA and Bama.
  9. Apparently we don’t need a 8 team or even a 4 team playoff. Apparently 2 SEC teams is enough. UGA wins by 23 and Bama wins by 21.
  10. This is the best explanation of why so many Russian players in the most recent draft. Bottom line, better access to analytics. This quote is from Vogl’s Sabres year in review from the Athletic. https://theathletic.com/3043443/2021/12/31/sabres-year-in-review-jack-eichels-exit-gets-ugly-a-new-regime-gains-traction-and-has-a-real-rebuild-finally-begun/ “They selected four this year. They picked forwards Prokhor Poltapov and Aleksandr Kisakov in the second round and Stiven Sardarian in the third. They added defenseman Nikita Novikov in the sixth. “There was an emphasis in our organization the past year and a half or so to really get deeply into looking at some of the Russian and Czech Republic players,” said Jerry Forton, who transitioned from head of collegiate scouting to director of amateur scouting. “The analytic data out of the Russian leagues is very advanced and very accurate from our perspective, so all that gave us a comfort level.”
  11. I would think he is very happy to be in Vegas. He can gamble like his mentor Evander Kane.
  12. Krebs is only 20 and has only played 15 NHL games over 3 seasons for two teams, we have no idea who he is yet as an NHL player. He does need to add 20 pounds. How about we wait until he actually plays 40 games for us before we call him a bust or Lazar 2.0. How many people here labeled Mitts and Thompson busts?
  13. I’m distracting myself.
  14. Here is the issue with Tage and the rest of the center crew IMHO, we have no idea who they are yet and whether or not they’ll lift this moribund franchise out of the hell it’s existing in. Cozens, Mitts, Thompson and now Krebs are all question marks. Thompson has built on his late surge last season and looks better at center then wing, but just went 10 games without a goal. Mitts emerged last season, but has been injured all year. Cozens, 20, is improved but remains consistently inconsistent. His 40 pts pace is encouraging. Krebs, also 20, has exactly 1 pt in 15 NHL games, while being very effective in the AHL. The bottom line is all 4 guys could be top line centers someday but we really have almost nothing to go on. They are all inconsistent and honestly look to me more like 2nd or 3rd line guys. One or two then will likely end up back on the wing.
  15. The Buffalo Sabres, the Matt Eliis of NHL franchises.
  16. Cedarqvist and Costantini have taken a big step forward this season. I also interested to see if Pekar can step up his game with all the new openings in Rochester.
  17. Take that Krebs, Tuch, and JJP. The 29 year old rookie w the goal. Buffalo is talking Prowd.
  18. Can we just move on from Hayden, Eakin and Bjork? Please.
  19. Rochester Cyclones leading 4-1 after 2. Goals by Biro, Laaksonen and of course Mersch and one of guys on a PTO.
  20. So they are paying about 1.7 mill per goal to our $110k.
  21. Huge but skate well, shoot well, can handle the puck and they out in constant effort. Tuch is a better forechecker and more physical but that will come for Thompson.
  22. They are trying to get Butcher a goal against the Devils
  23. TNT is dy-no-mite. TNT looks like a very similar player to Alex Tuch
  24. Did Ellis really put the Eakin line out with Butcher and Prow on a defensive zone draw? That worked. Not!
  25. Nylander - the Matt Ellis of top 10 draft picks?
