  1. Need certainly, but also getting guys he really likes based on their draft board.
  2. @Taro T Sam is the only player I miss. He would have been a real asset this season and beyond. Oh well.
  3. Playing our the string is one thing. Going 16-9-3 since March including 22 games (10-9-3 record) against teams in the playoffs or trying to make the playoffs is quite another
  4. I think most thought that the goaltending would cost us victories and it did.
  5. Can’t wait to hear Jack’s comments.
  6. So any loss by the Marlies puts the Amerks in the playoffs or just a regulation loss?
  7. Let the off-season begin. Off-season title - Kevyn Adams and the Quest For Good Goaltending. This has been a great final two months of the season, but KA's mission this off-season, besides getting real goaltending, is what other moves shrink the gap between our young squad and the best in the NHL. The Sabres went 16-9-3 in the last two month. However the 9 loses were all against playoffs teams. The final score in those 9 games were 45-13 with 3 shutouts, including 3 losses to Fla and getting blown out by Bos and TB. Goaltending certainly played a role, but all aspects of the team were lacking. This is the gap that must be closed. Closing that gap is Ka's mission this summer. He has the money to do it.
  8. the guys should have spelled R J at center ice after the win.
  9. Thank G-d they didn’t blow RJ’s Last Call.
  10. Why draft any Swedish players after the first rd? What a stupid agreement.
  11. https://moneypuck.com/goalies.htm According to moneypuck.com Ullmark’s numbers are solid to above average of goalies who have played 30 games + this season. There are 44 goalies that have played 30+ games this year and Ullmark’s numbers are top 14-18 in every category. That’s good goaltending. Not elite, but good goaltending. You keep saying the above, but show me the available better than Ullmark goalie willing to come here or who is available in trade without restriction? There are 3 listed above Ullmark who are in theory available. They are Quick, Kuemper, and Husso. That’s it. Quick isn’t leaving LA as they have the cap room to keep him and he outperformed Petersen. Kuemper will have his pick of jobs if not re-signed by Cup contender Colorado and I doubt Colorado lets him walk. That leaves Husso who just had a break out year. He’s certain to want the biggest and longest deal he can get. KA is unlikely to pay the price, but at least there is a chance. “Strive for better” is a great slogan, but sometimes a reality check is needed. The reality is there in next to nothing in better than Ullmark available goaltending who we can acquire. As to when Ullmark should have been re-signed, the best opportunity was not last off-season after the team cratered, but the one prior, when he gave us playoff quality goaltending in RK’s first season. Instead KA took Ullmark to arbitration and signed a 2.6 mill deal for one season. This lack of foresight cost us this season and will probably cost us again next season if KA’s goaltender search fails again.
  12. Thank g-d they put Bjork and Hayden in the lineup. That always helps. G-d forbid they call up Quinn or JJP to fill KO’s slot.
  13. Ullmark is a decent to good starting goalie. He should have been re-signed. Considering the crap KA has foisted on this team in goal and how lousy most of the options are in both the trade and FA market, we would have been much better off just keeping Ullmark. It’s KA’s biggest failure to date and could very well derail next season as well.
  14. 5 Bulldawgs taken in the 1st round. Pretty amazing. GB killed it with Wyatt and Cine.
  15. Not surprising. He said before the draft he only had a limited number of players with a 1st rd grade.
  16. neither and both. I'll record the draft and fast forward to the relevant part and then watch the Sabres game on ESPN+ once it's over.
  17. I think it’s their defense. He won’t have that issue here next season.
  18. I wonder what it would take to get Chris Driedger from Seattle? He has 2 years left at 3.5 and is only 27.
  19. From the Athletic: https://theathletic.com/3273694/2022/04/27/down-goes-brown-finding-3-positive-thoughts-for-each-of-the-non-playoff-teams/ Buffalo Sabres Positive No. 3 "Positive thought #3: It sure feels like they won the Jack Eichel trade, doesn’t it?" Other Sabres positives - Rebound of Skinner and "Legit Young Guys" like Thompson, Tuch, Dahlin and Power. Also they like Don Granato.
  20. No kidding. Speed, size, physical and very skilled. What’s not to like?
  21. Ok who do the Bills pick? RB Hall? S Cine? WR? LB? CB? From all I’ve read I doubt they take a CB. Apparently McBeane don’t put a premium on the 2nd CB. My guess is they grab a S, RB, or LB. Key players at these 3 positions are all playing on expiring contracts and apparently McDermott doesn’t like to start rookies if he doesn’t have to.
  22. Does TM work for Wpg?
  23. Why would they care at this point? The league let LV keep 15 healthy players on the injured list.
  24. Might as well bring up Quinn, JJP and UPL. Why not.
