  1. Apparently Stevie Y knows how to do this to get the goalie he wants. Come on KA step up.
  2. The problem there is the defense not the goalies as Freddy Anderson proved last season. Maybe they should trade Nylander to open cap to get a real D or two. If not they are doomed to not compete for a Cup. So sad, to bad.
  3. So would ours in pure joy.
  4. Nothing will help Toronto’s porous defense. Murray needs all the protection he can get.
  5. I wonder how many of the newly drafted prospects will attend? With the 11 new picks, there are now 41 prospects in our system. Sprinkle in some college UFAs and it should be an interest camp.
  6. Just like last year. We maybe equally disappointed.
  7. So you are unhappy in Ottawa because they are treating you poorly so you stayed to spite them? How about growing up and going somewhere where you were wanted and try to work things out with Bales.
  8. Good question.
  9. It will be interesting to see him at the development camp against some older players. It might help decide whether he goes to the A or plays in the CHL or goes home. Considering his International experience, I’m wondering if the A is the most likely scenario.
  10. KA has already said both Johnson and Portillo will be attending the Development Camp.
  11. KA say be patient, I'll have an answer for you
  12. He'll just call him JRB.
  13. I'm not a big fan of Bader's work.
  14. Again, then you can't "count" on any draft pick, because all picks can tell their NHL teams to F-off after a certain period of time. Savoie can say he doesn't want to be a Sabre and return to the draft in 2 years. Is that going to happen? Unlikely but it could. Odds are he signs in the coming days and goes back to the WHL for next season. Euro's can also sign and return to their current clubs. This is probably why KA and his staff are concentrating on Euros in their drafts. They get 4 years to develop the player, but can still sign them. That's my biggest gripe with the college thing. Now with NIL, I think teams in all sports should be able to draft a college kid and return him to the school depending on the kids goals. It would eliminate this alleged problem.
  15. You can say that about any drafted player. Euro can walk away after 4 years just like the college kids. Teams only have 2 years to sign CHL draftees. Guess what, how many drafted college kids in the history of the Sabres walked if the Sabres offered them a contract? 1, Cal Petersen. Levi was very clear with KA. He had zero problem with signing with the Sabres but wanted to go back to school for a chance to win a championship. Portillo is in much the same boat. He is in Michigan's excellent business school and wants to finish his degree and try to win a championship. There is no indication that he won't sign as well. If KA felt he had little or no chance to sign these guys, their rights would have already been traded. Sabres put together another improved year and the likelihood they don't sign further decreases.
  16. Please see above.
  17. Not exactly accurate. As long as the Sabres hold his rights he is counted against our 90 player Reserve List. There are 3 important lists. First, the NHL roster of 23. Second the Contracts list limited to 50 players. This includes all 23 NHL players, plus injured players and minor leaguers in the AHL or ECHL signed by the Sabres. Signed players in the CHL don't typically count toward the 50. All of draftees or players we hold the signing rights to (like Pilut) count toward the 90 player Reserve List. So yes, Levi is in our system.
  18. Probably and then a late season visit to Rochester if they don't go deep into the Memorial Cup playoffs
  19. Kevyn, just because of team colors are blue and gold, it doesn't mean you ahve to draft every possible Swede.
  20. Not at all. Tobias was the top goalie (and only goalie) on my draft board. I had him at 81. (My consensus board had him at 86) Like I said, I don't have a problem with the player, just where he was taken. Brennan, who many thought was the best goalie, went in the 4th round to NJ at pick 102.
  21. Devin Levi just turned 20 in December.
  22. Maybe the next Vyacheslav Buravchikov. Yuri was a forward and a pretty decent player. I doubt Komarov ever plays for the us.
  23. My biggest gripe isn't with the player, but the feeling that there was better value at 41 with an RHD which we lack in the system. The Sabres haven't invested a 1st or 2nd rd pick on a RHD since Risto in 2013.
  24. That would be great. I hope he becomes a star.
  25. That's kind of scary
