How would you fix it to keep the CHL viable and give the players the most appropriate opportunity?

I don’t think people are appreciating how different the Sabres will look next season. A healthy Greenway combined with the 2 D additions will make this team much much harder to play against. Greenway at his best flourished with Ericksson-Ek and our friend Marcus Foligno. I think Krebs will work as an Ericksson-Ek replacement. The question is who do we cast as Marcus Foligno or who will at least play with a Foligno-esque work ethic?

I do think people underrate his playmaking ability. The guy sees the ice as well as any player on the Sabres. I also like that he is wearing Mogilny's number.

I voted with you that I expect Skinner to have another 30/30 season give or take a little. You mentioned in another thread that Casey is our 5th best forward. I think Casey closes the gap to Skinner and we could argue by year's end that Casey is now the 4th best forward on the team.

I think you are misreading the qualified privilege. The privilege discusses opinions made in a lawsuit, such as I believe it was Mr. X who stole my watch. This is a lawsuit against the NFL, not TP. In his complaint, the plaintiff states that TP said X. That is a different matter. I was not placed in the lawsuit as a matter of opinion. He better have firm evidence that TP made that statement.

The forward group has 4 1st rd draft picks, a 2nd rd pick, and 2 talented mid-draft picks in Neuchev and Nadeau in the top 9. There is also a 1st rd pick on defense. All in all, there are 16 Sabres draft picks on this roster including my favorite value pick from the last draft in goaltender Scott Ratzlaff and the media's favorite value pick in forward Ethan Miedema. I don't think Trotter could hide from a defamation lawsuit because he made the claim in a lawsuit. This claim wasn't an opinion but looks to be stated as a factual statement by TP. If the claim is false, I don't think the fact he made it in a lawsuit helps him. Otherwise, people would lack adequate recourse against false accusations.

One of the assorted scrubs is only 23 and made his NHL debut last season. Damien Giroux is going to be a solid depth player for the Amerks this season.

I do not believe so. Protected speech is from government action not private. This is the publication by a private person of a very nasty quote attributed to another private person. I don't believe the law cares how the publication of the information is made.

We won't be going from worst to first, but if Levi plays as well as Miller did that season we'll have a great season.

Considering we used 12 and 11 D the last 2 seasons, the 3 guys who we utilized in the 7th role last season played 60+ games, and Stillman ended up in the 6th role, I’d say the 7th D is an important role for us even with the additions of Johnson and Clifton.

It needs to be the goal here now. I thought bringing in Clifton and Johnson were the acknowledgement that management wants to contend this season. What doesn’t fit with that message is the retention of UPL and Comrie. UPL was 60 of 75 in save% among NHL goalies with at least 15 games played last season. Comrie was 68/75.

I think he is taking a bit of a wait and see Mitts. If Mitts continues to play at last year’s level you could see a mid-year re-sign like he did with Cozens. Mitts’ close relationship with Cozens and Dahlin will certainly be a factor in getting him re-signed. However, further development by Quinn and JJP, plus the top forwards prospects may make KA less willing to commit to Mitts long-term. My personal opinion is that he re-signs Mitts at some point this season to a 5 year extension @ 6 to 6.5 per season, but without a NTC. Dahlin and Power’s new contracts are the priority right now. The new Sanderson deal has added pressure to get Power’s deal done.

You can’t possibly believe that Bryson, Stillman and Clague are better hockey players than Lyubushkin. Bryson is the worst skater (non-goaltender) on the team by a wide margin. Clague is marginally better than Bryson and Stillman is terrible. The only reason he is still here is that he is youngish and on a cheap contract. The truth is these guys are AAAA players at best. Lyubuskin, who isn’t very good either, is at least an NHL D. Its the reason he was traded. He had actual trade value, the others not so much.

This season is going to come to a couple of things; improved defensive health and play and Levi giving us good goaltending. The team will score plenty of goals. I expect continued growth from JJP, Mitts, Cozens and Krebs plus a rebound by Greenway. The key will be getting the GA down from 300 to 270 or less. If Levi, Clifton, Johnson play well and we get continued improvement from Power and Mule, this team should be able to cut 30 GA.
