So is the premise that a handshake agreement has been made, but will not happen til after the surgery? Would that mean, for example, Sabres get X, Y, Z pieces if he is back on the ice in December, less if later, none if it goes bad? That would be a massive shift from the Sabres position all along as they would still be taking on the risk of the worse case scenario. Edit, sorry I see now you meant the other surgery.

Baseball does not NEED a transformation; it is second only to NFL and CFB. Alienating existing fans by changing the landscape and traditions out of greed (wanting new fans) is a risky endeavor. Turning baseball into a circus in order to get new fans is foolish.

Agreed and I also blame MLB to an extend. Their “let the kids play” mantra is having some negative results. They want the players to be sassy and it’s not a good look.

Jack must be going absolutely crazy. Every week that goes by KA looks more and more stoic and patient. It should be interesting what happens this fall if nothing has changed and people start putting microphones in front of Jack.

All I ever see is him making excuses for him and laugh reacting at anyone who disagrees. If his stance is more distinguished then great for him.

Your loyalty to Jack is confusing, but steadfast. It’s as if he can’t do anything wrong, which ironically is just as absurd as those who you criticize for being quick to believe anything negative about him.

Honestly I wouldn’t even bother debating this, the logic is on your side. It’s a fair assumption based on information and belief. Some people just don’t want to see Jack for who he is.

The same goes for someone defending everything he does til the better end, following the Jack is never wrong narrative. It’s not convincing of course, but someone could see that in everything if they choose to.

Superstar is a bit of a stretch. He’s in the top 15 centers in the league. Our fanbase has a tendency to act like he is Mark Messier or something. Jack is an injury prone PPG 1C.

Compare this current roster (minus Eichel cause we’ll probably never see him wear our jersey again) to any of the tank years. What tangible difference is there? How many more points do you honestly expect us to get than in the tank seasons? I don’t see this team as currently constructed getting much more than 50 points.

I didn’t think KA was tanking all the way up until Ullmark left. Have said all along that we will know whether he is tanking or not by who we have in net. So yes, now I do believe he is setting up a tank year. I’m not impressed by him at all. History is going to repeat itself.

Looking better but unless Terry and Kim change their temperament, KA will be on the hot seat and we will be back to square one.

I’m interpreting this (we’re all reading tea leaves) as a shot across the bow to remind KA that he is not a happy camper, and that he is public about that fact. Again, Jack is a head case and is a locker room problem at this point. I don’t wish any ill will on him, but I will not be rooting for him the rest of his career after he goes. My FD stopped getting them on drill nights because the cost has gone up so much. Now it’s just pizza. Pizza isn’t the same without wings.

Is there an unwritten rule that we can only hire former Sabres? It’s like a person playing fantasy and only drafting players from their favorite team, but in real life.

What a mess. Ever see the MLS kits they sell retail? More add than anything else, very ugly. One has to strain to even find the team name or logo. This will be interesting to see given how much hockey fans like to buy jerseys. They should tread lightly.

We have a tendency to overestimate our prospects, both this board and our fanbase in general. Though I suppose all fanbases probably do as well. We will see what happens. I just have a horrible feeling that 2-3 years from now Terry and Kim will run out of patience with KA and that will force him to scrap this plan and we will be back to square one. I hope that does not happen.

It’s not as if a hockey team needs a captain. We’d be better off without one than with Jack “I need to do what’s best for me” Eichel. Imagine him as the captain of a sinking ship, barging past women and children and hopping in the dinghy and abandoning ship. Lol no thanks. We sure do need the PPG 1C aspect of his game, but his captaincy we do not.
