Definitely worth complaining about: the Ottawa Senators continue to beat us at our own game.
-
That was a really brief period of unemployment, if something comes through, which we all hope it does.
The problem with being unemployed is that sometimes it can feel like an eternity of misery and despair.
-
Really? Your complaint is that the PA guy is doing exactly what he's supposed to?
You're right. That complaint didn't make any sense at all. Every PA announcer is a homer. It's their job.
Ok, my two cents. Yes, this is a complaint thread. However, I do have something to rejoice about. I have two job offers. Now I have to decide before the end of the week who I want to work for. Yes, it would involve me going back into trucking; but if someone is willing to give me a shot to where I can clear my name over bogus allegations, then that's what I'm willing to do. Then again, everything could fall through and I still wind up with nothing by next Monday.
This whole experience of being unemployed really can be humbling. I can't help but wonder what has happened to henysgol as of late (and I know that he said he was really struggling a few weeks ago). I hope he's doing all right.

Been waiting all week for this. I spent 3 hours in the ER Wednesday night after someone thought it was a good idea to smash a beer bottle on my head. I get the stitches out today, but unfortunately I'm not going to attend my work x-mas party this weekend as I don't want to explain to the CEO/Owner that I'm a retard that gets in bar brawls and ends up in the hospital. Then again, he probably already knows this...
You didn't need to overstate the obvious.

So my coffee didn't taste good this morning, and now I have to wait to make another pot....ugh
I do love the days when I can hang both Bills and Sabres flags outside my house...
I have nothing really to complain about today
Day Off, Sabres, Bills, Ottos...Yeaaaaaah it's gonna be a good day
If we go 0-2 today, I'm gonna be depressed (not like I'm already down and out because I was wrongly terminated).
If we go 1-1, it may not be so bad (so long as that victory has blue and gold all over it).
If we go 2-0, I'll be pleasantly surprised and it will lift my spirits up (even as I pound the pavement looking for work).

Two weeks to concentrate on your health, albeit with no paycheck. The lack of funds sure sucks, but spend those two weeks exercising (not more vigorously than your doc said, btw), eating right, and relaxing, and you know what? It's going to be better than two weeks' pay, in the long run.
First off, thanks to everyone for their concerns. As much as we may agree or disagree on some things, it is reassuring that this forum has become something of a close-knit community.
Here's what really sucks: I have to look for a new job. I no longer have a job with them. However, the silver lining is that I have been home for all this time and at least I have a bachelor's degree in a totally unrelated field. So, here's to finding a job where I can at least be home every night and off the road.

Better get that checked out. Hopefully it is nothing but a sinus infection. It can easily mess with your equilibrium.
I appreciate your concerns. Now for the good news and bad news.
Good news (even though I could reserve it for PASabresFan's Saturday thread): the ENT specialist told me that it was more likely due to work-induced stress, so no vertigo there. Plus, he told me to cut back on salt, caffeine, and fried-type foods. (This is motivation for me to try to lose between 40-50 pounds). At least I have a NordicTrack treadmill at home to walk on.
Bad news: Since my family doctor gave me an indefinite out-of-work notice from last Monday, I had to send that in to my company. Given that the initial diagnosis was vertigo-like symptoms, this became a DOT factor. There is no way a safety-conscious trucking company would allow me to drive under those conditions. Now, I have to wait for my ENT specialist to fill out a specific return-to-work form as to why I should be allowed to drive again. This could not have come at a worse time. Two weeks with no paycheck.

I shouldn't joke since you could have a brain tumor or something but... do you see the spinning swirly thing like in the movies?
Thanks for caring (seriously!).
No, I haven't had anything that severe like the swirlies... yet. However, the headaches feel rather dull. Then there are times when I feel fine. The lack of consistency is irritating to say the least. <_<
I think it's interesting that you should bring up the "brain tumor" issue. My grandfather died of it about two months before his 54th birthday in 1982 (and I'll be 40 next year).
-
I've been having vertigo-like symptoms for the past week and I can't work as a truck driver because of it.

I know that PaSabresFan won't like my complaint of the week: AARP.

I missed a spammer? Lame.
Yeah, it was very weird. He wasn't even rooting for anything related to hockey - or sports in general for that matter.
-
It's a spammer. I recommend you delete the reference to that post. No need for that crap on SS.
I think the mods have already fixed this. His post is gone.

The process sucks, and given how bad the economy is, there are literally 100s of applicants for most positions. It's brutal out there.
Not to mention that there are people who are desperately trying to hang on to their jobs.
-
You're half right. 4".
I can't resist. Is that a lack of endowment?

He's going to give Crosschecking an aneurysm.
I actually thought it was a clever play on words.
Now, for the real complaint of the week: how a judge like this one could so flippantly ignore the plea of asylum from this teenager is just mind-numbing. If this girl dies at the hands of her parents because she converted, her blood should be on this judge's hands because he practically signed her death warrant.

I'm not sure what you know of Finnish Metal. But check this out.
Not exactly what I had in mind. I was thinking that they would be as hardcore as
.Believe it or not, there are times when I get in the mood to listen to stuff like this in order to wake up. Throw in a little CC to boot as well.
-
But all the popular girls like Toby Keith...
Now what?
That was before his windfall of success and embarrassment of riches.
-
Thanx!
I'm actually fascinated with many things Finnish - in spite of the fact that I have English and Scottish blood in me. I had a pen pal a long time ago from Finland back when I was in high school. I lost contact with her back around '96, but I fondly remember her extreme depth of intelligence. She wasn't like a French pen pal I once had who might as well have practically been a harlot. My Finnish pen pal was someone whom I could write to intelligently (sorry for the redundancy), so she definitely left a positive indelible impression upon me about Finnish people in general.
At any rate, I'll do what I can to keep the music coming...

I'm in the Top 8? Oh, how time flies...
Now I can't remember if I've ever complained about this, but the Sirius/XM Radio merger, IMO, was a complete disaster. The lineup is just pathetic for the music channels I used to like. For instance, they had a really cool Dance/Electronica channel (yeah, that's my vice) called "The System" on XM 82. After the merge, they switched it to "Area" on XM 80, which I think is a substantial downgrade from what I was enjoying as I was driving across the country. Yet, they kept "Family Talk" on XM 170 - which is a horribly lame "religious" channel. (I don't even waste my time with that one.)
Oh, well. I guess if I have to drive and can't watch the games online, I could always listen to them (and shudder to hear Harry Neale's voice).
-
People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with them.
That's Islamofascism for you... <_<
-
Sure. And Scotland might become independent, too.
Yeah, I had to.
You're talking right up my alley. That's actually a wonderful idea. I'm English and Scottish, and I'm all for outright Scottish independence (as a republic). I just hope they don't get any more boneheaded judges who commute the prison sentences of airline bombers.

That makes me happy for Buffalo, but sad for the Bills and Sabres.
Glad to know you guys liked my ultimate reality check. ;)

Hey, I'm a professional painter. For a side job, I paint bubble hockey figures for people. If you'd like me to custom paint a set for you to look like your favorite NHL, Olympic, or college team, just email me at John.Pascucci@gmail.com
Here's a link to my photobucket page.

Here's my youtube video.
This is a hypothetical situation, so please don't take me seriously right now: I think I'd rather have a Teppo Numminen bobblehead from Team Finland.

After taking a load from Virginia to Iowa en route to new hire orientation in northwest Iowa, I can honestly say that I am about to complete my first full week of employment with the new company.
